[CTF] Go - V1R1

Postby dublpaws » Thu Aug 13, 2009 1:58 am

PK3 -> http://github.com/drhodes/nexuiz-map-go-ctf/raw/master/map-ctf_go-v1r1.pk3

lots of jump pads. Plenty of room underneath for hooking/jetpack, but; there's also places for people to stand down there, and the hurt brush is only as low as the people standing. So it's not a safe bet to hide under this map. In fact, the only safe place to camp is hooking directly behind the flag.. OK, possibly under the stairs too.

The middle of the map features a large corridor friendly to the nex and machine gun, it provides excellent cover when ducking inside while offering a nice vantage for taking out base dwellers. The top of the middle is a large open platform. Four jump pads in immediate proximity to electro and mortar will quickly bring angry nex victims to the top - - if you're up there, two escape chutes are available, so use them (you low ping nexxing camper), or try your luck at fighting them off, in any case you won't be picking off the flag carrier while dodging four raging blue ball hurling electros. HAAHHAAHAHHAAH

That's about it. I left out quad and strength. This is a test build, so next compile will be r1v1 with the fancy build options. Long Live Nexuiz.

Hi,

Thats the same feeling I get from looking at it - might test it later.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

Been played a few times on HOCTF.
The response was great. Yet another successful map by dublpaws.

...and it's a space floater (which I usually don't like), so I'm surprised.

(Added screenshot)

I've moved go-ctf to git-hub, now it's managebly forkable.

Just the pk3 is here:
http://github.com/drhodes/nexuiz-map-go-ctf/raw/master/map-ctf_go-v1r1.pk3

The whole project can be gotten by
$ git clone git://github.com/drhodes/nexuiz-map-go-ctf.git
on linux.

(the following utility is for people with bash)
One extra thing: there's a python script which simplifies map
building. It's called happy-pack.py. It creates all the common
directories in a map project. It will take care of zipping, renaming, and
ln -s things to nexuiz's data directory.

Will it delete your computer? probably. but that's what backups are
for :3 What it won't do is configure netradiant for custom textures.

~/$ mkdir way-cool-map
~/$ cd way-cool-map/
~/way-cool-map$ cp path/to/happy-pack.py ./
... edit ./happy-pack global vars ...

~/way-cool-map$ cp path/to/test.sh ./
... edit ./test.sh global vars ...

~/way-cool-map$ python happy-pack.py setup
... open up netradiant and save map here. compile. then:

~/way-cool-map$ ./happy-pack.py; ./test.sh

At this point you should be in nexuiz testing your map with triangle
counts, without having to touch the console.

Hi,

sadly it seems there's a problem with the mime type setup on github. Firefox doesn't download the .pk3. It's just shown as text in the browser. It seems github treats it like any pother text file. Showing it in its inline browser :(

lda17h, you're absolutely right. Thanks for letting me know about this, I actually had the wrong url  ! It's all set now, tested and everything.

http://github.com/drhodes/nexuiz-map-go ... o-v1r1.pk3
firefox still displays the file as text, so please right-click -> save as

Hi again. There's a brush missing.

EDIT: In my chosen forum scheme the avatars are on the right and thus only a little bit of the image is visible. If that's the case for you right click the image and do "view image" or whatever your browser calls that..

Ida17h, I made sure to fix that in the new release, are you certain nexuiz isn't using a copy from dlcache? I've triple checked everything - maybe I've got something wrong with the version numbering..
