Yes, i do fully agree. Maybe something like "Nexuiz: The galactic wars" or something that reflects the story

Yes, I think that may sort out some of the confusion. Or an other cool tagline by illfonic :)
Otherwise both project may suffer... I don't want that.

That sounds like a cool name.

At present we have no plans to change the Nexuiz name or distribute our content to the GPL Nexuiz.

Please keep in mind that when the game comes out on consoles it will be listed as, for example, Nexuiz (PS3). There are many games out there that have a counter-part that is completely different than the other. For example, Counter-Strike when it was on the X-Box. Similar mechanics were used, but it was brand new content, setting, etc. I'd love to keep talking about this issue but I just don't feel it will get anywhere. I understand why you are upset about it. We did not steal this name or use it without permission. This is part of our agreement with AlienTrap. I'm sorry, but I have no further comments about this right now.

The press is aware of these games being different. They are doing a great job at keeping them separate while still plugging the GPL Nexuiz. We are constantly talking about it to people about GPL Nexuiz as well.

For example, new press today shows this -> http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/71 ... -this-year

Our web-site is being revamped currently to support Nexuiz information as well as new information on our other project, Ghetto Golf.

Charliebrownau wrote:Its a shame that you guys don't support Keyboard and Mouse in a FPS on a console.
Its amazing how many players would play FPS on a console (and even get a console)
if it supported native USB keyboard and mice on Xbox360/PS3/whatever.

I agree playing on a Mouse and Keyboard definitely puts your skill level higher than if you were to play with just thumb sticks. Epic Games tried this with Unreal Tournament 3 on the Playstation 3. Currently you can play it on the PS3 with a mouse and keyboard. The problem lies when you start playing against other players. You have to create a filter to play/not to play against people with mouse and keyboard. This can really thin out your player base. The version of Nexuiz we have planned will include a very detailed character profile system tied directly into the players profiles. Leaderboards tied directly into social networking sites and more are planned. With this delicate and balanced over-arcing game design we are putting onto the project, separating the player base could be very bad. We will see how things change, but as of now I have no plans to implement mouse+keyboard support into the design.

Zico wrote:I guess the biggest issue is what simply is shown when the wwebsite nexuiz.com is showed up:
You see the annoucement of the console version - bumping it. The "GPL Nexuiz" link is somewhere below that, small, seemingly "unimportant". And I guess this is a good anology on how people feel just right now: Unimportant, left aside.
I really do not know what the developers went though in the last years but I see we have a dedicated community who loves the game.

The web-site we put up at Nexuiz.com is an announcement in preparation for GDC 2010. We will start growing the web-site. Right now, it is serving as a teaser. Things will change with the web-site. Right now I cannot give you a definitive answer as to how it will change. However, we will always have a link to GPL Nexuiz on the Nexuiz.com web-site.

C.Brutail wrote:Also, weren't you around in Nexuiz in 1.x times? Nickname sounds familiar.

I don't remember when I first started coming around Nexuiz. It was before 2.0 was out though. When I was working on Quake 10 Year in 2006, I was more involved with anything dealing with DarkPlaces.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I would really like to hear any more feedback/ideas you have for console play.

Could we get a list of tags of the people who had their content put in the game to insure that nobody got ripped off?

There is a stats page for the SVN showing who contributed what to the GPL Nexuiz, even though that doesn't show what parts they will be using.
