modular map making

hi, i thought of something: my maps usually don't exceed 1024x1024x1024 and is pretty much just a single concept and i have like 2 dozen of them. my solution: smash them together and build my map using my manny concepts. i think this will be the way to make maps. another thing i am doing with it is to make them self sufficient. any ideas? requests for a list of my best one would nice. well, here they are anyway, not the actual maps, but hey, our immagionation is always awesome right?


core:

a central core that explodes when shot and re-spawns after the top and bottom close then opens again.
a series of catwalks surround it with a death pit below it.


spawn room:

a 256x256x128 room with a spawn point, a camping rifle, an uzi, and lots of ammo with a one way secret door


i've also been working on various doors from other games:

metroid
megaman
any suggestions?


and a lot of incompleated stuff



so, yeah, i hope this method catches on and, well, i've run into a problem: i can't open my old maps :cry:

iris doors: this is two rooms connected by a glass tube with iris style doors iris-doors.zip

just the doors iris-doors.map.zip it starts with a space so it won't be added to the game
