Here, a new map for you.

It looks a bit weird, but it isn't done yet, please excuse that.

Sorry for this being posted now, but I just can't wait for April 1st... ;)

Any chances this map can go into Nexuiz? Maybe it could be fully GPLd for that.

Oh, and a totally unrelated question - can anyone explain me what the word "satire" stands for?

2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

I think it looks a bit too monochromic. You need to add more colours to it.

It's a really interesting concept, but I think for it to be really trippy there need to be more varied shapes and optical illusion type stuff.

I like how some parts of the map have the rainbow color patterns, and others are almost completely monochromatic. Perhaps it would be nice to implement this principle more consistantly, like half a map wierd rainbow colors and half the map monochrome, perhaps for capture the flag.

I love the swirling patterns of the textures and the sky, and how they contrast with some of the grid like patterns.
I haven't played it with opponents. Seems to have some features that would be nice to play on, like the big steep slope with the weapon on it. and all the high up platforms with bonuses etc. Just like your other maps in that respect, the weapons and items are well placed, so the best ones are hard to get to. Also there was one 'corridor' that was hard to see, maybe due in part to the uniform lighting and textures, so that was a nice 'secret'.

The jumppad in the lava pit didn't let me get high enough though, and when i turned on OpenGL 2.0 shaders, many of the walls turned pitch black. I don't usually play with that, i just wanted to see how it looked.

The two large textures on concave walls also look excellent.

In general i like how this map departs from the common castle or spacebase themes of nexuiz/quake/doom maps.

I wonder what exactly this map is satirising, maybe anyone who takes it seriously like other april fools day jokes.

Finally do you permit anyone to use the textures however they want, or are there restrictions?

The problem is that the textures (indirectly) originate from websites with optical illusions, and depending on whether these can be called common knowledge or not, they are free to use or not. For example, given how many different variants of rotsnake you find on images.google.com, that one can probably be called common knowledge, otherwise there would not be so many differently colored and angled variants of it. The map may be illegal, but if it is, remaking the textures in any way won't fix it.

Do you use Nexuiz 2.1? The lava pit jumppad requires at least that version. But I can increase the jump height if needed.

BTW, I am curious what ways there are to reach the Strength... the Shield can be reached by a VERY lucky laser jump, but for the Strength I haven't yet found a way without using a rocket jump. But maybe it is possible to reach it from the orange corner slope using a laser jump, I never succeeded in that, but it may be possible.

Well, and the map was an attempt at making the "worst map ever" after some person apparently took that "award" from me (look at the images on the concave walls to find out a parody on whose maps it is... ;) ) he may be blue but not amused about it. Hopefully he will not throw me off das tower...

Well the 'Men's Liberty Server' clearly is a really happening place to be. Course, only the [BOT] clan hangs round there and they're so amazing no one else can touch them.

I just upgraded to 2.1 so the jumppad works fine now.
I tried getting strength the same way as u, couldn't get it with pure laser jump, although i did by grappling up to the top of the orange slope and laser jumping off the slope at top, i think because the grap gave me high velocity.

hilarious map :D :D

You can get to the strength by just using the laser. it takes 4 laserjumps. Make sure the start jump is not 100% or you will overshoot the wall. the last laser blast directed aqbt 45dgr into the wall pushes you onto the beem if you aligned yourself right.

make some rotating stuff in there too, thise textures should be extra dizzynig when rotating slowly ;)

I agree with the rotation suggestion. It needs to be worse than it is now. I think it might help to use the same texture for everything in one area too to make it more difficult to orientate yourself. As it is now, you can clearly see the edges etc, which break up the textures and ruin their effects.

If you do it right, you could create your own version of "last man standing" in which players have to run an obstacle course until all but one have disconnected to go and vomit (championships will be held where the participants have had less than three hours of sleep in the last week).
