Howdy

Ive been playing Nexuiz for some time now (you might have seen me on the herforst server), and I thought it would be fun to do some maps. I have some questions about mapping.

* Is it possible to create a map in blender (which i have been using for several years) and import them into the radiant? If so, how should i save them (what file format)

* Does the quake 3 engine (or whatever Nexuiz uses) support NURBS modelling?

* Is it possible to edit world physics, for example, gravity/source of gravity, and where would this be done? Also, where would settings such as grappling be enabled?

My idea is to make a series of maps for Nexuiz that are similar to Halo 2 maps, especially coagulation and turf. I have already modeled the scenery in blender, including the buildings, and it would be a shame if these were not compatible somehow.
Any help would be greatly appriciated. Sorry I sound like such a noob :?

Hi Torus.

Yes, its possible to use blender as a mapping tool. The proccess is very similar to quake3 maping with blender:
http://www.quake3bits.com/htm/tutorials ... g_maps.htm

Nexuiz uses the Darkplaces engine. A distant offspring of quake1, but it also supports many of the things quake3 does, like patches (curved surfaces)

Not realy. Nexuiz is a classical dm game at heart and does not have to mutch of fancy scripting and phys. To make something like that you need to make a mod.
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

I haven't really read the link tZork posted and i'm not a mapper, but q3map2 (the map compiler) has some issues when you try to import ASE models. It's messing up the clipping, so you end up with "holes" in your model, where players might pass through (SavageX tried to do terrain with ASE and ended up with holes in the floor, where players could fall out of the map). If you models are mostly decoration, i would recommend to clip the manually in gtkradian with clipping brushes.

Gravity is a server setting in Nexuiz, you can't define gravity sources or zones with different gravity on your map.
However you can change any setting with mapcfg files (read Docs/mapping.txt for futher explanation), so you can make your entire map lowgrav or enable the hook (seehttp://www.alientrap.org/wiki/pmwiki ... GameTweaks for a list of all settings).
