Redesigning the Logo

Someone said to start a new thread concerning the logo so here it is.
First of all, thanks for your criticism. I actually agree with most of you when it comes to my reiteration of the logo. It is very weak and it does not get across the feel of the game. I think that making some of those edges sharper would be a good idea.
I know that some of you like the old logo and I understand the appeal of 2d, but let me take a stab at this because I have a vision of an appealing logo. So don't brush it off just yet, rather I would like your criticism.

The origional is one badass logo, and if it changes too much ima be sorely disappointed. HOWEVER, if you need an (accurate) 3d mesh of the logo to do work on, I can email one too you that I have around somewheres that I drew. Its in .blend format, and has about 1k tris, no textures, and is about 160kb. Pm me if you want it. Its pretty much a 3d replica of the current logo.

Ive been thinking of making an animated intro for Nexuiz for a while now, and I just bought zbrush, so I might have a go at it (after I figure out how it works that is) :roll:

I really liked morphed
discombobulated logo render- that was pretty sweet.

2. Where can I get an SVG of the nex logo anyway?

Which one is that? I don't recall morfar working in either 2D nor 3D. All I know is that he made a knife model for CS and replaced it :P

Redesigning a logo is usually a bad move unless you are changing the product it represents (or if the logo is totally grouse or just bad to begin with) A logo is a symbol for the product its designed for; change it and the ppl get confused and/or assume the product changed too.

However what you did is not a Redesigned logo its a variation of old one. Making it in 3 is not redesigning it and yes a 3d one could be useful indeed. I dont like the smooth rounded feel or the mild colors on that one tho; imo the best way to go with a 3d nex logo is to stick fairly close to the original.

Heres my take on a 3d nex logo (done for NotMe's menu redesign.)

Agreed. I wasnt really referring the nexuiz logo actually, which imo is cool enough. I was talking about the alientrap screen at the beginning (i should have stated that I was talking about that.)- which I think is really lacking. Its non moving, VERY simple, and the alien kinda looks like he is smiling. Maybe thats just me though.

Who are you referring to here.
My rendering of the nex logo is literally a traced, 90° extrusion of the 2d that i did so I could see it in different angles. no changes whatsoever.

As far as animated intos go, i think thats pretty important. It makes it look like the makers have are skilled at first impression if the intro is tight.
