Can md5 be used for player models? Is it non stone-aged?

No, darkplaces doesn't support md5 models, but with some luck it can be converted to dpm or psk:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libax/ (there is also a doom2dpm converter (in alpha or beta stage) based on the same lib, but i can't find a link...)

Both .obj and .zym are bad. I'd like anything but those. Or as long s it isn't a hassle to get it to work

MD5 sounds best... that or maybe Source engine mdl. Those formats should have most tools available. LordHavoc should know the md5 format because his new in-progress engine (Darkwar) supports them. my 2 cents.

MD5 would be my first choice, but support would have to be added to DP. DPM wouldn't be bad either, once a MD5->DPM converter is available.
