Textures for your projects

Postby Frank_Geppert » Mon Apr 23, 2007 9:27 am

Dear game developers,

I found a lot of promising maps in this forum. I would like to help you with textures and models. You can see my textures here:
http://www.dexsoft-games.com/textures.html

And here are models:

Here you can see a few sample scenes of mine:

Nice shots you got there.

But as Nexuiz is a free game licensed under the GPL i doubt that we can use your textures unless you also make them GPL'd.

And as I can see from your page, they're definitely not ;)

Otherwise keep up the good work !

Your stuff looks sharp. What Nexuiz really needs are some new textures

yes, nexuiz has been an awesome game, but I am an example of how some people can't get into a game unless the looks are decent. Contributing your textures would be really great, because awesome textures are the one thing nexuiz lacks at this point. Like Strahlemann said, they need to be under the GPL. GPLing your textures still allows you to sell your textures, however, people will be able to freely distribute them, and make changes to them. Sometimes this helps sales, if I know that someone is distributing something under a free license, I will respect the fact that they are a smaller company, and I am more likely to pay for something I can purchase, when I got it for free. So if you still want to keep your existing textures under a non-free license, we will not be able to use them in maps and such. If you still want to contribute, you can make a set of GPL textures, and give those to us, but otherwise we will not be able to use them.

Yeah, unfortunately that's true for now.

This is a Win32 wrapper for moment, for cross-platform an OpenGL and SDL version is scheduled.

As interim high priest of this voodoo cult I of course welcome any texture contributions. 3rd party maps are free to use any textures they like, but of course only textures that may be distributed under the terms of the GPL can get included into a Nexuiz release.

I like what I see in your rendered pictures, so I hope we'll have the pleasure to praise you and your contributions to the Nexuiz texture pool :)
