q3map2 - can it use multiple cores?

Postby Clueless Newbie » Wed Aug 08, 2007 10:46 am

Is there a way to configure q3map2 to use multiple cores? I've got four cores in my mac, and q3map2 is only using one of them. So I have two idle cores that could be used by q3map2. (currently compiling a map and I think it'll take around 24 hours to complete)

There's a switch that you can use called 'threads'. This may do it.

afaik it only detects and uses multi cpus on windows. anything else and you will have to tell it with -threads #

For me, it always uses 4 threads by default on Linux (2 cores).
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

That looks right, anyway. But q3map2GUI - which is the app I'm using - doesn't seem to have that switch... hmm..
