i had in mind thad you asked doc....thad the turrtes work but you wont to make tham "smart" so thad the turrt which is next to the target fiers

Err im not sure i understand what you are saying... read the thread again, from the top, for the full picture. to reacap real fast, the thing i did ask for help with was i media; models and texture and possibly sounds.

That's cool, maybe you could have a multitude of skins to choose from, so that you could kind of camouflage them amongst a similarly coloured background. Maybe you could have it so that those things bury themselves into the ground, and become practically invisible. Then when loads of players come along, you press a remote control, and they pop up, and fire shotgun shots in every direction, killing everyone.

I think something else that would be cool would be something that looks like the tripod ones in Half-Life, so you could fold them up and carry loads of them with you.

With something like that, a player could deploy them, with a laser sight that projects out to infinity, so that if you're fighting against them, you can see the laser sights looking where they're going to shoot before they shoot you. You could set them up with a little "scan" radius, so they aim in a certain direction, and then rotate back and forth a set number of degrees.

It'd be like the sniper sections in Half-Life 2. And again, make them really powerful, so that you can't just walk up to them, you have to avoid their line of sight.

Could make for some interesting 1 on 1 games- who can deploy the turrets in the best positions.

Regarding firepower:
Power of each unit differs by individual settings. the most basic one, the plasma turret, are with current defaults a preddy big problem for a unsuspecting player. The more advanced/powerful ones, sutch as the HK or minigun turrets, gennerally need to be taken down to get passed (this can be trixy too since some turrets will destroy incomming rockets) em. Again each unit has a set of cvars controling them, so tuning the power is straight forward.

Deploy/carry/HIde:
proly not gonna happen, at least not anytime soon. nexuiz maps are to small for that. And it would be a weaponsystem to advanced for nexuiz gameplay, it it could be deplayed i think. They may show up in deployable form in a ressurection of Team:Nexuiz *hint* ;)
HOF:

How's about a game mode that is based solely around turrets? You could have say, 20 to deploy, and you have to run a certain distance around the map every so often, so that if you don't you die. That way, the game would be about trapping the other player in a section of the map with the turrets.

Turrets would be crappy in normal Nexuiz (see tzork's arguments).
Team:Nexuiz sounds fine :) Engineer-class in other Team Fortress games is about deploying Turrets.

A few weak turrets would be cool in CTF maps. Especially those designed for a few players.

I think you mix together the words 'turrets' and 'torrents' :D
