Why must the turrets be weak? I was thinking about having a game mainly based around them. If they fired in a really cool way, it would be okay for 1 on 1 games. There could be something like each player's health is decreasing continuously, so you have to move around the map. The objective of putting more and more turrets down is to stop the other player moving around, box them in, so that eventually, they run out of health and blow up!

<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along

cool :-)
I hope there will be a game mode that is like:

all the players vs many turrets on a long way.

Because, i played nexuiz with friends on a lan , and deathmatch was fun. But cooperative playing is what makes lans even funnier. And with turrets this could be done easely.

Plasma & Doubbe Plasma Cannon (doubble fire rate): Medium speed splashy damage. Basic allarounder turret.

Image
Gauss Cannon: Slow tuning high damage long refire sniper turret.

Image
Tesla coil: Hits anything hostile within rage each 'shot' (including missiles) Deals mroe damage the closer you are.

Image
Fusion Reactor: Place close to ebergy based turrets to help them recharge faster (=shoot more).

Rockets
Image
MLRS: Basic multibay rocketlauncher.
Hellion: Same as MLRS + guided rockets.

Image
Hunter-Killer: Fiers a single powerfull rocet that will chase its target and avoid hitting obstacles.

Image

Minigun: Double minigun, slow turning but dealy mid to close range turret.

------------------------------------

All turrets can be put into a player team (for ctf and sutch).
Turrets can die. They respawn after some time.
Each turret has a separate .cfg file for easy tweaking.

I think it would be really cool if these were what other games called 'deployables'. I don't know how much engine hacking that would require though...
