Recomendation for a Linux Server setup

Hi,

I would like to set up a Linux Server for Nexuiz. Is there any recomendation for a minimized system (SUSE, etc.), just to run the Nexuiz Server, to avoid any unneccessary overhead?

I want to give it a try to run it under VMWare to see the possible performance.

I am a Linux Newbie but can get help for the setup, but would like to have some advices in which direction a Linux setup should go.

the best route would probably be to go with debian. Then install nexuiz through apt and if you want install openSSH as well, and then put all the paks and configs in the ~/.nexuiz/ folder.

I know the guide to install Nexuiz under Linux. The question is which Linux version is the "easiest" one for Nexuiz and whether I can use for example a SUSE Linux and just use install option 1 or 2 or 3 to get a more or less

minimized Linux system capable for Nexuiz without too much overhead.

From the other post I learnd now Debian-Linux.

The dedicated server doesn't need anything that's not installed on any linux system by default, so any linux distribution should work fine. If you want to keep it to a bare minimum, debian is a good choice (the 180mb netinstall iso should suffice, installation is mostly a matter of hitting enter repeatedly. just disable everything in the software selection screen).
If you don't want to install anything, you could also get a live cd (http://damnsmalllinux.org/ is probably the smallest) and run the server from a second cd or usb drive.
