At first I have to say, that I don't like the Lurker(?) character the way it is at the moment. The arms & legs are too thin imo. The head is too small. I want him heavier in general. Like the Lizard Man from Soul Calibur 1.

This one is kind of a nex-styled UT99-Xan-Clone. Gundam-style "wings" at his back.

A female character WITH (light) armor. Maybe a cop. I had Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell in my mind.

In my opinion the walking eye in Quake3 was the most original model ever made. And I had that idea of a headless robot. Why not combine those two? (I know, it looks similar to the robots from StarWars Episode2+3)

And here's a Nali... Strogg... Cyborg... thing...

Yes, his original arms are at the back. He can fight only with his implants. I kinda like this idea.

These are "concept" sketches only. I cannot do these in 3D, cause I'm not into that stuff. But if somebody is inspired to make one... Go ahead. :P

If those become models Nexuiz will officially have the best models out of any game

Good work! I like the lizardman - Lurk looks a tad skeletal around the legs and pelvis area. He looks like he'll snap in half from all that heavy armour on him.

The strogg-cyborg-mutant concept seems to fit in with the industrial grungy feel of Nexuiz.

Thanks for your comments. Another thing I noticed was that there have to be more female characters, so I tried to make a counterpart for the male marine, but with this necktie it came out as some kind of guardian.
Nevertheless I think, this one is not hard to get into the game. I saw some screens with an old marine model (?) that looked pretty similar. Dunno, if it was male or female, but maybe somebody could use that one as a prototype.
Anyway just filling up the roster.

I vote against the tie, but I think having a female marine would be nice.

I thougt about a headless robot, too.
Ed 209 came to my mind: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q ... rch+Images
It could be a copyright problem. Anyways I like Ed 209. It's a cool design, but I think it would be hard to make it hold the weapon in a logical way.

[GF]HarryButt, your robot seems to compensate that with his arms. This is really good.

By the way is there a size limit on nexuiz player models?
(I do not mean the poly count, but the actual dimensions in the game, except for level design issues.)

I know why. :P But that's exactly the reason why I wanted some clothe in that place. Just for excitement.
Well, I guess, I should leave it out anyway. It looks kinda displaced.

Yes. I'm trying to keep the chars within the limits. I'm not going to freak out too much on them. Cause I can imagine how much time it takes to build and animate even a "standard" model.
So my characters will always have 2 arms to hold the gun and two legs to run around. The rest is eye-candy.

EDIT:
The first time, I heard the name Nexuiz, I had some kind of connotation with a raven.
imo this one HAS to be in the game. Actually you can use the Carni model as base for this one. (replace head & add vest) So please, somebody - make it. Please please please [...]

I think, that a white version as an alternative skin would be cool also:

Okay. I'm gonna take a break from drawing.
So, please go on brainstorming. Need some fresh models here.

EDIT 2: I saw my little brother making a torso in Blender. Looks pretty simple. I think, I'm gonna try that out and build some of my ideas. But it could take some time, for I have never worked with any kind of 3D prog... Well, practice makes perfect...

Mustelidae wrote:Seeing that we've been gaining some modelers in the past few days and that there isn't another thread like this, I thought it would be a nice idea to brainstorm for ideas. I myself have no idea how to model, but I'm trying to learn (thank the lord for wikibooks :D ). So if you have no idea how to model you can still play a role in the modeling process!
Go ahead and brainstorm already!!!
