GtkRadiant on Mac...

Postby Mop » Sun Mar 02, 2008 1:31 am

Well I've downloaded it, and I don't quite know where to go from there. I ran the Packs installer, but I didn't have any of those games, so I skipped them all, and now when I run it it says,

Runtime error: Didn't find any valid game file descriptions, aborting.

How do I set this up...?

Get one of these:
http://www.redsaurus.net/macradiant/
and read the instructions
you need x11
i use 1.4 set up for q3 but with the nexuiz ents def and some other bits that i can't remember right now.
Hope this helps

I already have the application(s) from there. Do I need to download any of the others files from there? And what are each of them?

Edit: Nvm, I got it working. Could you point me to a tutorial for it?

Ok thanks, I got it working :D

How do I save it though? The editor only wants to save as .map ?

.map is the uncompiled "map source code". You must compile the .map to .bsp. There should be an option on the title bar. I do not have a mac to confirm this however.

There's this -

I chose the first one, and it created a .bak, .lin, .bsp, .srf files in the same folder my .map was in. What do I do next?

Throw the .bsp in your ~./nexuiz/data/maps dir, and run nexuiz. Then enter "map mapname" without the quotes (mapname being the name of your .bsp) to run it.

Sweet, thanks! But all the textures are missing, how can I fix that?

Hmm.. In the ~/.q3a/baseq3/textures/ there are ALOT of textures, but in the editor there are not anywhere near as many. Did I do something wrong? And when I use textures that are in the editor, few to none of them show up in-game... Help?

UUUUUUG! This is at least the fifth time I've tried this. I always get that "no valid game descriptions" thing. What am I doing wrong? I have the Apple Developer Package, I followed every different tutorial I could find. There's just no way for me to get this app to actually work! Wasn't there a GTK with a built-in nexuiz pack?
I have great ideas for maps, but the program refuses to start up. I put the entities.def in my .q3a folder, and the models and textures, so what does the error mean?

(btw, when it gives me the error, it's labeled as "ERRNO: no valid game descriptions...", what is errno supposed to mean?)
