[MAP] last_life_nex (CTF)

Postby shaggy » Mon May 05, 2008 8:21 am

Another shaggy map.
This map has been released before, but it was a insult to the mapping community.

This was my first map, I've now made many other maps, that haven't been released yet. Just the other day I played the old version and I thought to myself, this map had the potential to be a decent map, I just made it look really bad. So I set to work just fixing up the main errors.

I still don't know how to do the map info file. I've made an attempt, it may not work.

ok, map naming conventions....

the pk3 is : map-last_life_nex

the .bsp file is : lastlife_nex.bsp

the mapinfo file is : last_life_nex.mapinfo

O_O

I was told the _nex suffix was for porting a map from another game.
I have no idea why the prefix of map- is needed. I've seen it in some map filenames and it's a bit confusing to me.

There's a mapcfg file which, AFAIK, isn't used any longer since 2.4.

It's in the NN repo http://maps.nexuizninjaz.com/map-last_life_nex.pk3

testing out the map now :-)

Shaggy from the pictures i thought yeah yeah, but i just played this map and it's great. Laser jumping gymnasium, i got camped horribly but it was okay because it's so fast to get going again. Minimalism is the sHz1t.

The map is also a bit too open which makes it a bit on the easy nexage side as well.

This map actually looks like a little something I was making a while back, I thought it would be nice to try my hand on a space floater DM map and it really looked a lot like this until I canned the project and then used the artwork already in place to make Apocalypse. I am tempted to take that design and apply it to the layout of this map to see what we get. I also like how the map is pretty wide, because it would be nice to have a space floater like CTF map where using laser to push eachother off the map is not the most effective game tactic :P

What I already like about this map is that the flags are indoors which makes for a little easier defending then most space CTF maps.
Now with new shiny avatar.

i like this map for two reasons: i like the gameplay and it reminds me of a gigantic (empty) pool. :)
