weird red fog on 'toxic'

Postby Daedalus » Mon Apr 24, 2006 11:31 pm

just returned from fooling around with kern on morfar's new map 'toxic'. we noticed that a strange red fog appears on the map after you float around a bit in the green slime pits. it stays until you reconnect to the server. i dont think its intentional :D
ah, yeah. made some screens:

Kinda looks like the blood decals to me...maybe they're bugged on that level.

Well... the map is still only at version.. 11? :) or is it 1.1? The possibility now to run on top of the map makes it significantly bigger, but its cool, it makes sneakyness very possible for 1on1.. great job m0rf

Your 'fog' really looks like blood decals. I normaly play without decals but i also never noticed such 'fog' on that map. Can you test if set cl_decals 0 (1 to reenable them) in the console does help? However if it does help we'll have to find out what causes this ;)

hmm, i *think* i had the decals turned off as had kern, 'cause of his low graphics card, but sure, i'll test it when i'm outa here and back at home again :)

edit: i love this map too, btw. its great for 1on1 8)

Hehehe, that looks wierd. But it cant be a map bug. It must be a nexuiz bug, or maybe a drivers bug :P
Im glad ppl likes my map :) It is slightly updated in the Nexuiz SVN, no big changes though.

ok, tested it again (with decals on/off). strangely enough the 'fog' appeared near the end of the game. we had some frags before that (suicide in the pit as well) and it didn't show up. only later, without any reason.. :?

dont have time now, but will test it tomorrow with different graphics driver versions.
the blood is cool, but its clouding the vision  8)

I just tried a short botmatch and the map was normal.. but if you noticed the bug only later maybe i have not played long enough. About 5 minutes or so.. how long do you need to get 20 frags against bots? :)
