ZeroRadiant

I've seen this mentioned a couple times in IRC and on the forum, so I started reading up on it.

The official WIKI page: http://www.qeradiant.com/cgi-bin/trac.c ... eroRadiant

Also from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZeroRadiant#ZeroRadiant...
ZeroRadiant (or GTKRadiant 1.6.0) is an upcoming version of the GTKRadiant level editor based upon the 1.4.0 architecture and design. It is currently in development for new iD Games projects. It will be used to create maps for a number of computer games. It is maintained by id Software together with a number of volunteers.

I really can't find any information on this aside from that. Anyone know anything about this project, such as why they are making 1.6 from the 1.4 source? Anyone know why it's being named "ZeroRadiant"?

My understanding is that the Linux and Mac source can be compiled right now (from https://zerowing.idsoftware.com/svn/rad ... eroRadiant ) but the Windows code won't build yet so they are holding off from doing a public release.

I haven't browsed through the development mailing list archives yet, but that's where I'm headed right now... http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/pipermail/gtkradiant/

I guess it's called ZeroRadiant because of Quake Zero (now Quake Live). Which is the upcoming free browser-based Quake 3.

And I guess It's based on GTKRadiant 1.4 because most mappers prefer that version (I don't :P)

Funny, without knowing about this thread, I've started to install it from svn repo, I'll inform you about how it went ;)

I'll be so happy when ZR has a stable windows build. I can't stand using 1.5 at all.
