moved my nexuiz folder , problems

Postby Grasshopper » Mon May 19, 2008 11:25 am

omg , ive racked my brain over this for 3 hours . i had my nexuiz folder on my desktop and its was starting to get meaty with new maps i downloaded . so to save on ram i moved my folder to C:/program files/ . then went in to gtk radiant/edit/prefrences/paths to change where to look for nexuiz . well gtk is giving me a hard time . it will load my maps but it wont load textures . thru the process of elimination i have backed up my maps and completely remove the map/mymaps.mapcfg from the directory . uninstalled gtk ,and removed the gtk files from the registry , rebooted , installed gtk , went to C:/programfiles/nexuiz2.4.2/data and created maps/mymap.mapcfg , then told gtk to go to C:/program files/nexuiz2.4.2/data/maps/mymap.mapcfg. when i run gtk it still wont load textures and it makes more folders in nexuiz i.e data/maps/mymap.mapcfg/data/maps/mymap.mapcfg and data/data/maps/mymap.mapcfg
i had this problem once before and somehow i fixed it and dont remember how . anyone with a quick fix? i need the textures to load :? thanx in advance

How does that save on RAM?

i said ram to to get to the real problem i am having . sry Xeno . but yer right it doesnt use up ram ,it uses up icon cache time . which if you have alot of icons on the desktop this will slow the desktop refresh and load times . i moved it because thats one of the many picky things about me .i usually try to keep my pc very clean and or running a smooth as possible.

So do I... I usually have nothing on my desktop :)

Have you considered that the problem might just be the space in "Program Files"? *nix programs usually vomit on filepaths with spaces in them... I've had so many problems with that that I finally just created another directory in C:/ specifically for *nix programs.

Sorry again for not being more useful, but I just don't have gtk and I'm afraid of all the time I would spend in front of it if I did install it :P

What was the problem? Post the solution so that others may share in your enlightenment. ;)

I realized later that the space in the path shouldn't have been a problem since the desktop path also has a space in it.

your right Xeno it was the space between my ears really , i dont know why i was trying to aim at data/ maps , when all i had to do was point to data . it was just a simple "user" error . oh man now i really look dumb . so remember , its just nexuiz /data folks . i dont think i wil forget this bone head move anytime soon
