Quick install MacRadiant1.4 INTEL ONLY(With NEXUIZ settings)

Postby merlwiz79 » Sat May 24, 2008 11:30 am

Tested in Mac OS 10.5.2 (Leopard)

Download:
http://www.divshare.com/i/4572687-4c9
A Nexuiz folder.

I edited the original App and Pack Installer to include Nexuiz.

Mount MacRadiant1.4 INTEL.dmg

1ST RUN the Packs Installer
Image

Make sure to select the Folder for Nexuiz. (Example: /Applications/Nexuiz )
Image

Click Cancel for all the rest.

Then Drag and Drop the MacRadiant 14.app into Applications.

Now Run MacRadiant and you will see a warning click continue and then Close.
Image

Now Relaunch MacRadiant and you should see this:(If not you click the Combo box and select Nexuiz)
Image

Now you can make or edit maps:
Image

TO COMPILE ANY MAP TO BSP:

Edit --> Preferences --> Other --> BSP Monitoring :
UNCHECK Enable BSP process monitoring
This won't tell you if there is a leak in the map

then select Bsp and which one you want to use to compile.
the one I suggest is:
bsp_Q3Map2.ppc: (final) BSP -meta, -vis, -light -deluxe -fast -filter -super 2

once selected it makes a script to use.

Now open terminal and run:
~/.radiant/1.4.0/qe3bsp.sh

OR Use q3map2gui in goodies folder

OMG this is so useful and I wish I had an intel Mac. (and I JUST made a post about mac compatability... damn it)

is it really impossible to use radiant mapping for nexuiz with non-intel macs?

I get an Intel Mac in grade 9, mandatory, so I guess I will be able to at that point but oh..... 3 months away I CANNOT wait! (Lol)

Can you tell me how? I have been looking everywhere! Oh well it snot important anyway since this mac is slow (7 years old) and I'll be getting Intel soon.

Btw, don't forget to put in the command line -patchshadows or you'll get some strange effects. Select what he suggested and then go to 'Customize...' and add in :

-patchshadows

in the compile list, near -vis and -filter etc.

That is if you actually USE patches. :)

Thank you so much, gonna use it on my school computer until I get my own for grade 9. :D

Download Macradiant 1.4 and the packs installer here.
Run the packs installer before launching MacRadiant (select Nexuiz instead of Quake 3) ;)

For those who want to use Macradiant 1.5, this tutorial works for PPC & Intel :

- right click on MacRadiant 1.5 > Show package contents
- open the file named "script" (Contents > Resources) with a text editor
- remove the lines from :

Code: Select all
### Work around open-x11's problem with whitespace

to :
Code: Select all
export DISPLAY=`cat "$display"`

(including these two lines)

This is what I did and now MacRadiant 1.5 works fine. But I still have a problem : it doesn't load any textures :(

Well isn't that useless. :o but atleast with that you can theoretically build the map and then use 1.4 to texture. (that is if you agree that 1.5 is better, but a lot don't agree with me on this one for some reason which they will never tell... something about novelty. )

Thanks I will try that now. Also, is 1.5 already set up for Radiant or do I need to change something to make it do that too?

Edit: tried 1.4... and it automatically selected Quake Three Team Arena for me. You said their was some installer? I only got documentation, the program, and a Goodies folder containing that q3map2 thingy.

Where did I go wrong?

Edit2: I tried the 1.5 hack and now I get the infamous disapearing program, where it bounces once on the dock and then evaporates mysteriously into the compound irregularity of my computer. :x

Also, 1.4 even on Quake 3 mode asks me if I want to use the console logging, and no matter which I select I get an error when the program finalizes its launch that says it can't find the directory (probably because I don't have Quake 3 and as of yet can't change that :() and asks me if I would like to change preferences before it blows up (errr... quits.. ya...thats it  )

This is more of a mess that I wanted. Before I even hacked 1.5, I would try to save a map and it would ask me (in the console) if I would like to break into the debugger, meanwhile the box came up saying it was saving and the debugger did not show its box. somehow this corrupted my .maps and they don't load any info now, nor can I save maps that I made on a PC and imported into MacRadiant and saved after changing them.

:( I will try reinstalling the Dual 1.4 and 1.5 pack and see if that works, and if I can change it to Nexuiz or not.

MacRadiant 1.4 doesn't work ^^ When I launch it, it says : "Failed to load project file. Please enter a valid project file." and I can't create a new one... :(

Yeah, download this packs installer. Then, run it and select your Nexuiz folder instead of the Quake III one. When you run Macradiant 1.4, it's normal if Quake III is automatically selected : it's the only game you have set up in the packs installer ;)
