replacing sounds...

Postby maraudering hospice » Fri May 30, 2008 11:42 pm

I wanted to replace the sounds of Nexuiz with a few of my own, but I can't find where the sound files would be kept in the Nexuiz directory. Any pointers?

Look inside data*.pk3. Basically that's a renamed zip, so you won' have trouble opening it.

sweet. thanks.

edit: no such luck. I had seen the independent sound files on another computer and figured I would need only to replace those files with my own sounds (as long as I keep the same file name). But when I installed the game on my computer, I can't find the sounds anywhere.

Then again, that was a Mac and this is Windows. Would that make a difference as to how the files are organized when extracted?

That is becouse mac is a unix, so it has a /home directory, where all users store their data. On unix (and like) systems nexuiz stores it's data in a hidden directory. On windows, you only need to put them in Nexuiz\data\ . In data, keep the directory structure you've seen it the pk3. Also, if you manage to make a pk3 by yourself, be sure to rename it to zzz_mysounds.pk3 (pk3 files get loaded in alphabetical order).
