Hi Cheapy!

Well, I got a job doing software development. The problem is, after an 8-hour day of that, I am completely fried, to the point where I just don't have the energy to open yet more source code and develop something, even though it's a game I enjoy. I haven't had the will to do much more than play video games and spend time with friends. It's hard just to pull up a chat window or visit the forums a lot of the time. I don't quite know why, but I've developed an aversion to a lot of the things I used to love, probably because they involve work and thus energy. Plus when I get home I need to relax, offload, release a lot of tension and stress, and video games do that for me better than programming. Right now I just played my Conquest mod for 4 hours, enjoying it thoroughly. I really want to work on it, but I can't get myself to do it. Same with Nexuiz.

I'm working on reversing the trend. I'm going to try to get into developing Nexuiz again, but I can't promise anything. :/ I'll probably just lurk around in the forums for a while and mull over ideas until I'm ready to try implementing one.

Sorry to have been such a flake.

Regarding weapons, Nexuiz tends to lean towards strategy-based weapons -- Firing grenades and then detonating them for extra damage, timing the detonation of rockets, knowing when to use the hagar's ballistic alt-fire, pushing opponents off cliffs with the laser rather than relying on damage, etc... I noticed that UT2004's shock rifle comes from the same mentality -- if you can manage to use it strategically you can do some very bad things to the enemy.
I'm wondering what kinds of new weapons could contribute toward this theme.

I also want more straight-forward weapons, since not all players like to have to pull tricks in order to kill. :)

I think adding some new specialized weapons as optional guns will also be nice for adding new game modes (where those weapons are really useful). For example, anti-vehicle missiles and an electricity gun that also charges & activates base turrets, link nodes, etc.

As long as they are optional that sounds like a good idea.
I'd like an optional kantana, crossbow, ... and maybe a shield (medeval), deuling knife, old musket etc. Maybe a few medieval type maps would have an extra config file: nexdmbla-medi etc (conf files replacing the weapons shouldn't show up in the "classic deathmatch" filter I don't think, they should show up in All deathmatches etc maybe.. or be in medeval deathmatch? I don't know). Also the optional weapons should be configable like nexuiz main weapons.

Hmm... That sounds like it's getting a little heavy on the medievil for a futuristic game. It seems like it would work better as a separate mod, rather than as an integral part of the Nexuiz base. ;) However, if someone is willing to make the weapons, and enough people are interested in the mixture, the devs might be interested after all.

To be honest folks, there's little chance I'll be pursuing this idea (original post) much further. I just don't have the will to dedicate the time & energy, especially by the time I get home from work and finish all other obligations in life. :(
