I just could not get this flag stuff out of my head  !

I love the looks and style of modern compound bows (or however they are called) and I took Morphed's model as a basis for my new concept.

This would be very light, made of carbon fibre and light metal. I also think the cloth should be hold in place, otherwise it would look akward when the flag is moved and the cloth remains stiff.

ok, I like sev's concept sketch the best so far...with perhaps Harry's lower staff portion of the flag (the handle part, which isn't shown on sev's sketch).

So... when will these be used in the game, because in my opinion these are 1000 times better then the ones in the game!

However, I require the ability to 'assasinate' another player. i.e. a melee from behind is an instant death... or 180 damage.

It's been talked about that the flag carrier shouldn't be allowed to use weapons for several reasons, but mainly it is not to rocket yourself over the whole map capping in 3 sec. Even with laser people can gain tremendous speed. It would actually be fun to be able to stop the flag carrier even for newbies and not just those that are really good players. I vote for a more newbie friendly game.

However, using the flag as a weapon is just one idea. Others have been to lower the power of laser or increase it's damage to the player (for the flag carrier that is), give him a new weapon etc. etc.

I totally agree, this concept looks best so far and I like Harry's stick :D (That didn't come out right)

Oh, I hear that a lot.

Isn't sev's flag too... uh... beautiful? I mean, these bows almost look fantasy-celtic-elvish-whatever (in a futuristic way though). Detail level is good, but where's the dirt?
I'm getting the feeling that sev likes the shiny stuff :P First his awesome beach map, than this flag here. Well, I'm the guy for dirt and rust and cogwheels. :D

It is easier to make something shiny dirty than something dirty shiny.

But this was a concept, of course you can add dirt, rust (, cogwheels?) and some damage to the cloth and so on.

While your design is certainly accomplished, sev, I don't think it's in the right direction. It looks like something out of WoW, which isn't a good thing. I'll do some drawings to demonstrate what might be a better direction.

Something from WoW?
No, imho this is too techy for that. WoW is more steampunk, imho.
