Well, I do not know how things look in WoW :P .

I simply have a problem with the cloth attached to a stick design, so with the concept I tried to stress the futuristic, sportive part of Morphed's model, and include some previously wished for curves. I could imagine to see this one at the olympics (without the hologram :P ). Because its purpose is to be carried arround, this should be as easy as possible, thus the light materials, the "holes" to save weight, and the handle (near) at the centre of gravity. At the same time, it would still be very robust, similar to a modern bow.

I am looking forward to that :D

I don't want this thread to become inactive, so today at work I made another Harry-remix of sev's concept. In fact I didn't change much at all.

Still, imo a cloth flag should be recognizable as cloth. It has to be animated and wave with the wind and stuff. If you span the cloth, nobody will see that it's cloth, so you could as well make a hologram, like I did in this revamped drawing.

Anyway, this concept is over-the-top, and I still like Morphed's flag the most. With ripped off cloth...

Did any of you guys think about the code?

The flag follows the player, centered on him... At the moment it looks right, but with a "normal" flag it would look sicko...

That from the guy with the wanking avatar.

Are cloth flags at all possible? I mean apart from how the player is supposed to hold it (i would prefer it being held over the head), will the cloth wave properly when carried "against the wind" ?
If not, or if it's just too much work, then i would suggest my flare- / tesla-coil-flag. :D
(could either be a simple plastic-ish "lollipop" or a particle-spitting torch)

Theoretically you can make the flag rotate according to the player's movement angles... But you won't have cloth simulation. You could have an animated flag that would loop a float anim.

And my avatar's not wanking.

I thought about the code and animations, but then I ignored that.
Harry's concept, although good, doesn't fit the Nexuiz style IMO, it has too many crazy curves and shapes and whatnot.

Mr. Bougos avatar is indeed wanking and I have a peep.

As I said, I like Morphed's flag most.
That concept was a reminder to keep the thread active, because imo all this flag stuff is very important, for you see them every time you play CTF and so they're also an important design element of a game.
(And yeah, Bougo's avatar is wanking an invisible wiener.)
