i, for one, highly appreciate leileilols models, for they add a light side to Nexuiz, and i like variety. the b0obs are a nice add-on.

you see, that was what i was talking about, there are quite a few very childish people in this forum. Who are you tho judge one of the only artists that wants to make a model for nexuiz? it's not like nexuiz had tons of modelers.

If somebody makes a model, then thats great. the model does not have to become a official model. For example that anime model does not fit the nexuiz style, and i don't think it would ever be in the official nexuiz release. But it would be a great addition to nexuiz and could be used by everybody who wants to use it.

Scantily-clad women are no problem, but they'd be more fitting if they were angry "badass punk chix" or similar. Anime characters are some way off the unsuitability scale for Nexuiz.

Nexuiz playermodels need to look like products of the seething dystopian universe the game is set in. We need robots, cyborgs, mutants and whatever else that's spat forth from the mechanical womb of the eternal war machine of Nexuiz!

I personally agree with Taiyo100% here.. It seems that nexuiz is (or could be) a dystopian (we need story in campaign for this then) cyberpunk game. (cyberpunk example - Blade Runner) This is niche rather narrow and it's hard to reach that feel. And it would be impossible when mixing content. I mean somebody from project leaders could set a main theme (!!!) and all developers, who want to have their content included as official ones, should strive to reach it. This means music, visual arts, weapon design, maps, lacking intro should create this intensive atmosphere. Mix and mash of various content only ruins that. Why don't we include H. Simpson model then? (sarcasm, cause it was in all quake games).

Allmost all shooters have some sort of main theme. Medieval, gothic/industrial (steampunk), modern warfare, post WWII era, etc...

What I've said doesn't mean that we should abandon anime or boobs. This only means that these should be adapted to actual nexuiz atmosphere. Leilei/may shiranui/whatever doesn't look good here in their current outfit. Leileilol if you've watched GITS (Ghost in the Shell) films (these are anime) (don't know about tv series), look at batou, motoko or puppetmaster (especially in cyborg outfit). Bikini babes do not fit near nexuiz soldier or lurk or even marine , but they could fit easilly if they had some sort of exoskeleton, body armor, space suit which could accent some body parts if you really wish.

You can make unofficial models whatever you want them look like. I already have leileilol models in model selection screen. But I think we were talking about official Nexuiz models, which represent nexuiz gameplay. Nobody can stop leileilol making anime models (and this not a point of this thread anyway).

I don't know if you'll ever read this, but anyway...

First of all, I do like your models. They are far better than the default models that come with Nexuiz, oversized boobs or not. I usually use the souseiki(?) model — which I think is your work — when I play on Nex servers that support it.

Secondly — and this is meant as advice, not a flame — you have to have thick skin when you present your work online. No matter what you do, somebody will trash it. I've been making maps since the mid-90s and I know this from personal experience. Even now, when I play a new map for the first time, there will always be a few players who fall over themselves telling everybody on the server that my new map suX0rs, or is "gay))", and call endmatch votes throughout the entire game. Always.
For every person that likes your work, there will be another who hates it. And the more your work deviates from the norm, the more divisive it will be.*
My most recent map, HookRace, is an extreme example of this; there are a few players who really love it, and a lot of players who absolutely loathe it. But I'm still making maps. I'm making them for myself, not for the haters who are certain to dump all over them. If I make something that I like, then I know that at least one person will like it, and to hell with the rest.
Now, I wish your models had more clothes and more realistic boobs. That's my personal opinion. And so what? If you don't agree, then ignore my opinion. If you want big boobs and scant clothing, then make your models that way. There are plenty of players who like your models just the way you make them.
There are some posters here who think anime models have no place in Nexuiz. Again; so what? Ignore them if you don't agree. Your anime models have character (IMHO), which the models that come with the game do not (again; IMHO).

I don't know where you'll be presenting your work from now on, but there will be people who will dump on them there, just like anywhere else. That doesn't mean your work is bad. It just means people are seeing what you do. Learn to ignore the haters. Instead, focus on the people who like what you do.


*I once was the main mapmaker for a major game TC, and it's initial release sparked a major flamewar between the players who loved it and the players who loathed it. You know people have noticed your work when it sparks a flamefest that goes on for weeks.

I don't even think anyone trashed it either. There was some humorous/childish wordplay concerning b00bies but that's about it. I think every single poster in this thread still appreciates leileillol's efforts, I for one do. Maybe that was not emphasized enough in the comments people made.

Apart from that, what type of comments would you expect when throwing a model like this among the mostly male [fact] mostly heterosexual [source?] audience here?
