This means I now have freed up more time for Nexuiz and am dead set on finishing these flags. I'm really anxious on starting other Nexuiz projects and learn the process.

So to start of, I got everything what you said there tZork, but what do you mean with this export? How do you export? You create a .shader file with the right stuff in it right? But do you compile it somehow into a .zym with the zmodel or is it something else.

Sorry for the lost time guys.

Sorry for late reply, must have missed this. i mean Export your model =)

So you let yourself to fall in line with the bunch of loosers? Where has the individuality and pride of the artists gone? :P
In case it's not a hard work, please do both.I like the one flag variant better :D

Heh, I still have individuality and pride in my work, hence the 3 flag version :D. But I'd like to please the Nexuiz community as well and not just think about myself. I will always play with my 3 flag version even if the 1 flag version is the one that wins :)

EDIT: Btw, on page 3 I will update the votes so far for the flags. But as stated there, I'll prob end up creating a poll later on.

Just to let you guys know. I have started learning Blender. I believe in the long run it will help me a lot more with modeling for Nexuiz than Maya currently can as it doesn't have as many functional plugins and stuff.
I have tried to animate the flag models but there's something that just doesn't add up, so I'll be taking a look at how Blender did this with a test model and try to incorporate it into Maya.
I have started with tutorials for Blender (after playing around a little in it to get an overview of the application), gotta tell you, Blender is not a friend to newbies :P I feel like a complete noob in modeling when doing stuff with Blender.
I was just happy I finally found a way to move/rotate/scale the things, and after that it took me even longer to figure out how to select vertices/faces/edges. Then when I finally got to extrude something THAT'S when I felt like a complete idiot :P

Oh well. Hopefully tutorials will teach me a lot more :)

While I try to learn Blender and all I'm working on some other stuff. This is portals for the Port-O-Launch gun. Those portals that will be created that is. Any suggestions or ideas? Do these look too similar to the current ones? I think they do and dislike that a little but I figured I post them here anyway in case you guys wanted to comment on something.

The model looks better than the current ones for sure! I'm not a fan of the egg shape though.
I hope the textures will be better aswell. All red and all blue doesn't look that interesting.

I'd really prefer portals to stay in their current circle shape. Otherwise, I like it (but note that they will still get colorized by the game code). If you support make two model skins that are colored in red and blue, I'll remove that colorizing code and let it set the skin instead.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Yeah ok, I'll make them circular. I was also thinking of creating a skin to them as well. Which format are those models? .zym, .md3 or .mdl? Any specific I need to stay with or can I choose myself? If so, .md3 would be the best as I know how to work them.

As these formats require no animation, any supported model format works. IIRC they currently are MD3s.

Also note that they must have a specific orientation. "forward" must be the normal vector of the plane the portal sits on, and the model origin must be the middle on the "bottom" side. Ideally, open the existing model, and use the same orientation for yours.
