large skymap all sides the same

Postby dublpaws » Tue Nov 11, 2008 4:43 am

While making a skymap with one intricate image which happens to tile nicely I've discovered that zip doesn't handle dupe files. This is probably a long shot, but is there a way to tell nexuiz to use the same image for all the skymap textures? To be clear, I realize there are usually six images, and that they fit like so and named like that - however I'm using the same tga with six different names, which makes a big download.

It is possible to specify in the shader to point to the same file for all 6 images, reiterate the same file 6 times instead of using '-'.

Nexuiz 2.5 will support symbolic links inside pk3 files, which allow you to use the same file more than once (e.g. if you have team colored textures, but want to use the same normalmap and glossmap for both.

However, you cannot create symbolic links in zip files on Windows. Only Mac and Linux users will be able to use that feature, but the pk3s created will work on all systems.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
