I am a student, learning 3D modeling and game design in my free time. I have been using blender for well over 5 years, and consider myself a pretty advanced user, (although I always have room to improve :))

anyway, as previously stated, I use blender, plus photoshop terragen 1 and 2, and garage band. I can't get netRadiant to run on my computer, though. so I don't know how much help I can be beyond making stuff and sending it to people.

I have worked a lot with blender's built in game engine, and I know a lot about how games work, and also am very good at figuring out new ways to accomplish things in sneaky ways. ;)

I also have a limited knowledge of programing in the form of java and python.

here are some examples of my work: photobucket

I would love to be a part of this. and look foreward to working with you in any way i can.

-yoda

PS- I didn't make everything in my photobucket account. just to let ya know ;)

Well I hope you'll still be putting time into contributing to Vega Trek, but either way welcome fellow blenderer! :D

yeah, I plan on it. although vega trek seems to be in a bit of a slow spot at the moment. lack of support, it seems.

anyway, I would like to help with the story line. I am very excited to see it come to fruition. i can make levels, weapons, vehicles, whatever you need. and also work on story conceptualizing and editing.

I'm mostly a 3d Artist.
Already done together with lost the Grrrowler Nex and now trying to do a new Playermodel.

If you're bored you can take a look at my last work there or at some older stuff here.

Doing 3D only as a Hobby - out of the reason that I'm still a pupil. ;)

So.. :

- Blender : Proficient
- GIMP : Proficient
- NeRradiant : n00b

- Texturing : Proficient.
- Modeling : Intermediate.
- Animation : basic knowledge. Means: n00b.

( Also some knowledge of C and Python. )

Greetings.

Edit: Fixed 2 links.

The Gimp FTW

Postby wajmhome » Sun Oct 04, 2009 7:15 pm

All you really need to know is that I will create any 2d image you want as long as it isn't rate "xxx" or "adult". I'm mormon.

ALL BELOW THIS IS POINTLESS INFO SET ASIDE FOR THOSE WITH FREE TIME:

I am not good with 3D yet, but I intend to become better at it, starting with Blender.
But I have a mastery of The Gimp 2.6.7 (can't wait for the hopefully soon to come 2.8 ^ _ ^)
and can create almost anything I am in the mood to make. I can often recreate any tutorial made for Photoshop and then create my own special Gimp way of doing it. I am currently (when homework is all done) planning on making a vid for rendering realistic water, which is harder then it sounds. And even when I do figure it out (which I almost have), I have to wait for a mike so I can narrate the video.

one propably huge task is to remake most of the current textures because the are low res and are blurred depending on your settings.

So feel free to start with that, because thats whats hardly needed.

I'm an inexperienced blender user, but I am actively working on my skills. I am also good with gimp.

Hey there! That's nice to hear that you are working on ye skills! (More than what I can say about myself1 :))) I'm learning Blender through, hope you have seen these tutorial videos, otherwise you are in for a treat, they are great!

As cortez says, really nice highres textures are needed! :D
There is also an initiative to revamp maps. Remember, any highres textures are appreciated, so just stroll around in game and see if there is any wall or whatever that speaks to you: "Oi mate, can ye spare an old wall some new clothes ?"
Also doing concept art would be really appreciated since there are people who can 3d model! This can serve as nice inspiration for others! It's a opensource game, we all do a tiny bit here and there, help each other out to the best of our ability.

So just look around, see if you feel any inspiration and see what you want to channel it into, since as Nietzsche put it: "..a thought comes when it wills." and don't be afraid to ask questions!
But most of all have a good time! :D

Indeed, I started the series of contests in order to get people to actually start working... As, even though people have talked about fixing/retexturing maps, not many have actually stepped up to the plate. One of the main things we need are high quality textures, which are GPL and fairly unique/original from the other textures currently in Nexuiz. So I suppose i'll make my appeal... All visual artists, please work on a high resolution and high quality texture set (512x512 aptly)! Well, you don't HAVE to, but it would perhaps be the most helpful thing an artist could do for us right now. If you're going to start on one, please post here and let us know.... Or perhaps on Screenshots/videos of what you're doing, etc. :D
Do it yourself, or stop complaining.
