Furry fox player model

Postby MirceaKitsune » Mon Nov 24, 2008 12:22 am

This is my first player model for Nexuiz. Though I mainly made it for personal use and to have a character of my own to play with I thought it would be fun sharing it here as well. This pack is a set of furry characters for the game, 3 vixens and an anthro male fox. On an off topic note if anyone was curious, I am indeed a furry so this is one thing I really wanted around the game :)

I made the characters off the pyria model posted in a tutorial from another topic. Sadly I couldn't get everything the way I wanted since I'm not so good with modeling atm but it should look good. I also noticed there's a small texture offset on the model in-game then it renders in Blender, but fortunately that won't be noticeable in-game.

Feel free to download and tell me what you think. I also included the .blend sources so if anyone wants to modify them or make other characters from these you can do so (feel free to redistribute it). Download locations on MediaFire or FileDen (V2.11). Have fun :D

Looks good! I'll check out the animations when I'm back home, probably toss it on the NN servers as well :D

Cool, looks good. I hope you don't mind, I've updated the package to have a vixen.txt in the root (credits to you) and named the package with the prefix nxmdl, which seems to be the current standard.

I've mirrored it here: http://maps.nexuizninjaz.com/nxmdl-vixen.pk3 and will begin using it on the NN servers shortly

Somehow... I was expecting this :P
Anyway, looking good, but could you give me some closeups? If you used the Pyria model as base, the things you changed are only the head and that tail, right? No skin changes by any chance?

I'd like to see more detail in the tail. It's like an obscure bedpost right now. If you added just a few chunks of hair I think it would look even better.

Well, there was an anthro wolf before. :)
(although the descriptions for the Lycanthrope range from "dog-pig-hybrid" to "sort of a dragon")

Make the fox have more aggressive look in pair to lycanthrope (wolf). Seems too innocent to be made a pile of gibs now.

I have of course changed the skin too, but I initially started the model and skin off the pyria ones. As for more closeups, the only ones I can get are in the mirror on Greenbox but I made two more.

The problem is I made the tail by stretching 7 verticles from the back which were very close to one another. Therefore the texture on the tail is very stretched since I didn't yet learn the UV mapping part so that's currently a model thing. The length of the tail is made of a few pixels (20 or so)... that's one thing I couldn't avoid.

Woohoo! :D

There seems to be some ugly texture-stretching artifacts in the eyes, I guess this needs some UV tweakage. Looks like you can increase the polycount somewhat as well.

I think "werefox" is more Nexuiz than "furry fox" - A more slender, agile and cunning counterpart to lycanthrope (with the 1.2.1 werewolf skin of course, not the current "teddy bear" skin)

Ooh, and make it augmented with some mechanical parts too, half-way between a typical furry anthropomorphic vixen and a typical twisted hybrid of flesh and steel you find in DOOM3 or Quake4.

Kinda like an anthro vixen analogue to a cyberdemon. Or a hunter from Prey with canine features. Something that's furry and utterly horrific at the same time.
