Turrets? How?

Postby Clueless Newbie » Thu Jan 01, 2009 12:47 pm

I'm working on a CTF / Ons / whatever map, and I decided to try adding a turret for the middle checkpoint. The turrets.def file is in the scripts folder and the various turrets are available in Radiant's entity(?) menu. The turret is linked with the checkpoint (nice red line and all), but the turret does not show up in Radiant other than as a wire box, and it doesn't appear in the game at all.

So, any tips? Is the there a turret "sticky" somewhere?

I don't know about linking turrets to control points, but do you have Netradiant and Nexuiz svn?

Doesn't turrets support require svn of nexuiz?

Have a look at the mapping contest that was done a while ago. Here:

Most of the maps from that contained turrets, so it should help.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

MacRadiant and Nex 2.4.2. I have no problem playing levels with turrets on them.

Opened the micro ons level and set up the turrets the same way they were set up there. Still no luck.

Just tried running a botmatch on micro. No turrets. Guess it means I can play levels with turrets as a client, but I can't host games with turrets. So maybe I've set the turrets up right, or maybe not.. ;/

Client file (cprogs.dat) is downloaded each time you connect to the server, that's why you can play with turrets enabled server. To host a server (hosting a local game or starting single player also hosts a server) you need newer server file (progs.dat). To get this, you need to get current version in development (known as svn version).

Downloading it now.

(Apparently, I also need the svn version to be able to walk over patch surfaces when playing on an svn server.)
