Ok..I did search the forums looking for answers but I may have missed something. Long ago I played QuakeWReq and I'm just so exited to find something that actually works smoothly on my mac mini and can't wait to frag someone again. I feel like a kid in a candy store - Why didn't anyone tell me about this earlier? I could have avoided the medication :P

Anywho -
I remember a config file in Q where you can edit your keys and mouse usage - it was a lot easier for me to follow then doing it within the settings screen. Is there such a file we can edit in this game?

Secondly, how do I turn off the mouse look until I hit a certain key for it? I'm using a trackball at the moment and I'm just so use to it being my directional and not my eyes. I turn left i end up looking at the floor and turning right has me star gazing LOL. I know, I'm stubborn.

Frag Soon!

you create a file called autoexec.cfg and place it in your $home/.nexuiz/data directory (on mac and linux)

You can place commands and cvar settings there. There is also config.cfg file that stores your current settings, but it is suggested to not edit that file as Nexuiz itself makes changes to that file. It's best to use the autoexec.cfg file for your own settings. But you can open the config.cfg file to see examples of what settings are available.

An example of some binds that you may find familiar...

bind r "impulse 9" // sets R to switch to Rocket Launcher
bind g "say Good Game!" // message to everyone
bind k "say_team Incoming Enemy!" // message to own team

There are cvars (variables or settings) and commands in Nexuiz. You can lookup both cvars and commands on these two pages

(for 2.4.2)

(for 2.4SVN - latest)

There are pages on OUNS (Official Unofficial Nexuiz Site) Wiki that cover console usage. These cover creating aliases and other uses.

Lots of info but not exactly what was requested :-)

The config file (config.cfg) is stored in ~/.nexuiz/data .. i'm not familar with macs but from what i hear you will need to enter this path directly as the file browser will not display . files/dirs..

you can turn off mouse look with freelook 0 and then bind a key to +mlook but honestly simply using freelook 1 and getting used to the mouse will be better.

as mentioned before autoexec.cfg is better in this case, because config.cfg gets overwriten on each close of Nexuiz.

If you use Finder you can use apple-shift-g and enter ~/.nexuiz to enter the right dir.

*admin-edit: fixed the quote*

But binds are stored in config.cfg so in that case it does not matter that the config is rewritten on exit :P
Besides giving his supposed background i guess i knows that.
