New crosshair for the camping rifle

Postby Kay » Thu Mar 05, 2009 7:58 pm

Some days ago i made a scope for the campingrifle.
With some scripting (Tnx to -z-) it works only if you zooming in by pressing q, you can edit the autoexec.cfg file for another key bind.

If you want a screenshot klick Here

How to get it:

1: download THIS
2: past the files in to your nexuiz/data directory
3: make sure you have nexuiz 2.5 beta if not get it HERE
4: enjoy!

if you find any bugs, please tell me :D

Is this under the GPL (General Public License) (opensource)? If it's not it cannot go into nexuiz svn. If you make it opensource, which is preferred greatly, and you have a source file for the image (ie: a PCX in photoshop or an XCF in gimp, assuming you used multiple layers etc) it's good to provide that.

Nice crosshair, ill try it out.

The script supports other weapons, example below if I were to add seeker

Code: Select all
crosshair_per_weapon 1

bind mouse3 +zoom_with_crosshair

set crosshair_campingrifle_in "12"
set crosshair_campingrifle_out "14"
set crosshair_seeker_in "11"
set crosshair_seeker_out "13"

crosshair_campingrifle $crosshair_campingrifle_out
crosshair_seeker $crosshair_seeker_out

alias +zoom_with_crosshair "+zoom ; crosshair_campingrifle $crosshair_campingrifle_in ; crosshair_seeker $crosshair_seeker_in"

alias -zoom_with_crosshair "-zoom ; crosshair_campingrifle $crosshair_campingrifle_out ; crosshair_seeker $crosshair_seeker_out"

and for the record, you can rename a zip file to .pk3 and drop it in your data directory to run it. However, I'd advise you not to include an autoexec.cfg in a pk3 but rather a new cfg such as >> zoom_with_crosshair.cfg << and request the user add this line >> exec zoom_with_crosshair.cfg << to their autoexec.cfg

It would be good if you posted those as they certainly could be useful for people, but what license are you releasing the crosshair under. The GPL is the license nexuiz uses.

What is the license these are being released under?
By default all copyright is totally restricted: as in we can't even legally download these because you haven't said anything (and continue to be silent). They certainly can't be used in nexuiz without clarification.

No answer, awsome.
This cannot be used ingame without clarification. Why was the licensing question never answered and ignored?

Obvioulsy it can be USED because thats why they were posted here, only if you want to pass on those CHs or use them as basis for your own ones legal issues could arise.

Dont try to be holies then the pope mister..

1) I ment used as in used as part of nexuiz itself.

2) As for other definition of used:
Nope, Copyright is automatic. Without permission one has no "right" to even copy the image from where it was posted to another place (that's an "illegal copy"). When asked the author just ignored the question.

It's not nice to offer things to an Opensource Game without an opensource license, even when asked for clarification multiple times. I guess it was ignored becasue an opensource license was not what the author desired, but didn't want to ruffle feathers... ??
