Mapinfo vs Editing

Postby Grasshopper » Wed Apr 08, 2009 8:30 pm

I guess i must have missed something somewhereabout 2.5 editing because .....
I was having trouble packaging a map and i think it was because of the map info file. Normally i would set my name and map title and description in the mapinfo , rename it back to map.mapinfo , then package up the map , then test . wierd thing is that the pk3 would not show up in my test nexuiz under the create /ctf , maplist . then i got the idea of just using the unedited mapinfo file . the map shows up in the list with the author and map title . the map plays fine as well .
So did i miss a thread somwhere about this ? Is this the new automagical (rofl -z- ) way , to keep down the confusion ? or has i found a cool bug ?

I do not get why you need to rename the mapinfo file? It should have the same 'basename' as the bsp file..
maps/flatteringmap.bsp
maps/flatteringmap.mapinfo

Did i just misunderstand you?

yeah i think so . like i will name it example.mapinfo.txt so i can edit the contents , author title and description. then rename it back to example.mapinfo for packaging.

Could it be an encoding issue? Or newline?

No need for somthing that complicated.. either just use your text editor and use the file-open function or when using windows, a doubleclick on the .mapinfo file should bring up some dialog were you can choose to open it with your texteditor from then on automatically. Or just learn how to set those manually :)
