1v1 2v2TDM Mappacks! Team required!

Postby Bundy » Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:06 am

Ok, finally I got radiant and came to the conclusion, that I have to learn a lot about it to use it properly :D. So my question is: Are here some people who would like to join a team of mappers. The first goal will be a 1v1 Pack (I guess like 3-5 maps for the start). After that a mappack for 2v2TDM.

What I can do for the team: I would like to paint some scretches of the maps I had in mind. I would also help to improve your current 1v1 map projects. Overall, I try the best to organize everything which is needed to get this project running.

Of course, I will also start to learn working with radiant. But right now I have some ideas for some maps and am just not able to make em.

IRC Quakenet // Channel: #nexuiz.1v1maps

I thought of splitting the team in some parts:
- making Scratches with a main idea of the ambient
- Edit those into Radiant
- creating textures
- Setting lights/textures
- Maptesters/trickjumpers that work on item placement/balancing
- Movie creators

I may contribute, over this easter holiday I was planning to do some mapping. Although motivation for me may be a problem.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

Hello,

I think this is a pretty cool idea, and would like to contribute. I do have map making experience (If you want to see the most recent map I helped with: Paralyze), so I think I could help with making ideas, make them in netradiant, and placing the lights/textures in the map. I do play 1v1 matches quite a bit, both in nexuiz and quake live, so I think I can help with testing the map and item placement/balancing.

This sounds like just the thing for me. Some of you know me for my whacky map projects but I have also been working on some serious maps on and off. Where it gets stuck most of the time is getting the map moved forward beyond the initial brilliant idea point. I am quite good at that first idea and making that work for me and the map. But to then design the rest of the map from it is harder for me and usually the whole project then crashes. The only time this has not been the case probably is with the Peasants Palace map, but that map is quite open and not very optimized because of it:

I like the idea of a good 1on1/2on2 player designing a map. I could build the map from sketches or whatever you have. Maybe we could also tackle some of my failed projects. I will join you on the mentioned irc channel.
Now with new shiny avatar.

Sounds like a cool idea. I'd like to get involved with this too, its been a long time since I've used Radiant, but I may be able to contribute as a mapper. The only problem I may have is getting myself motivated but once that happens I don't stop. Haha ;).

I got a big list of 1v1 and 2v2 maps (Big thanks to Cortez). As said, we will start with a 1v1 Mappack. The maptesting/balancing will start this week. I will also contact the creators of the maps, of course.

Some more maptesters are needed. I am also searching for people who love to find out trickjumps on the new maps.

I would also like to have a small team(2-3 people?) that will create a video.

To get this project running, i need two or better three 1v1 servers where I (or the admin) can upload the maps we want to work on. It would be great if I am able to upload new maps to it, too.

Thanks to all who are allready interested in contributing this project and at all the others who will join it soon :D

We have the servers we need. We also have a maplist and we have mappers that can work on the maps. I would like to start some project talk/map tests tomorrow (Tuesday) at about 17:00 GMT+01:00. Therefor we need more map testers. If you have the time to play some maps and have a good understanding of map balancing and fair item placement, just write it here or join the Quakenet IRC Channel #nexuiz.1v1maps.

Feel free to play some 1on1 on the maps, where we changed some items. Thanks to Pink_Robot, Fruituix for the editing work and to the mappers, who were coorporating very fast and made it possible that we work on this maps.

These 2 maps are on vapor.delight.com:26500 and planetnexuiz.de:26500 / 26501

Feedback is welcome.

More maps and changes coming soon.
