Nex Gun Design 2009

Postby NightRage » Wed Apr 15, 2009 12:11 am

Hey I kept my Promise.

I said that I would make a Gun or Two (or More) Concept Art.

All Input Welcome, I'm no magician, i need input to Continue.

1) The gun is not 'Perfectly' set to match the 'side' view.
2) I started all 3 views at the same time.
3) I'm Giving you a 'Full' idea of what the gun should look like
4) Did I mention its an 'Idea' of what the Gun should look Like?
5) When the port opens it'll have like 'electrical' around it, like a little electricity

Image

EDIT: "I have a Larger view if anyone wants it".

Wow! :O

That looks really cool and way more deadly than the current nex. I like the idea of having the barrel opening when a shot is fired.

Good start, unfortunately for me (or anyone) to actually model this the drawings need to be less ambiguous. For example, the way the scope looks different in the perspective views than in the profiles is a problem. Draw many versions of the weapon until you have every aspect of the design clearly figured out on paper. Draw just parts if need be. It's going to take a long time to model, rig and export something like this but its going to be much faster if the idea is fully matured before a modeler jumps in and gets confused.

Really great concept! While Ihsan is correct, I believe I could model it out, however, a modeler would have to make some adjustment of the concept as side view and top view doesn't exactly match each other. So one would have to compensate for that with his own impression of the concept in the first place.
If you don't mind it possibly being a bit off from your general idea then one could just take these two and make the best of it. But if you want a exact replica of what you have in mind, more accurate drawings would have to be provided.

If you are ok with it I could take stab on it, I haven't really created weapon models before (well just one) and I want some for my portfolio ;). Don't worry though, I am a good modeler. But if you rather make more accurate drawings I could wait (or someone else for that matter if they beat me to it).

Cheers!

Concept art must be clear. Look at how this this concept art starts vague and becomes clearer with every sketch he does:

Look how the concept becomes a character:

You know what, I think I'm gonna give it a shot at modeling this one out with just these images. I'd have to improvise at certain areas but I think it won't be too difficult or too vastly different from the design.
