I have a bunch of old guns, one a big minigun, a cannon, and a top loading pistol thing. I made them for a game I was developing a year ago, but had to be canceled, for a number of reasons. Anyway, I don't know how to attach a file here, but any help would be appreciated. I already have all three UV mapped, with textures, although they are not that great. I'd love some help on this, thanks!

Well, they're mine, so I can release them under anything. So, yeah. I'll put them under gpl, if someone would help me post them, I'll put up a rar with all of their textures and weapons.

You could try mediafire or some other free hosting site for the time being. Is it possible to get some images of these?

Sure. I just wish there was a way to browse and put an image into the board.

And image of the cannon.

I'm pretty bad at taking pics, but I'll put up a .rar, so you guys can check them out. The images don't load on the models, so you just have to select the texture from blender's menu to place them on. Anyone interested?

Post the pics over at http://pics.nexuizninjaz.com/ then use the links to your images and with the "Message body - Img" function when you make the post. :)

Have you done any modeling before? I'm trying to be constructive in this criticism, so here are a few tips:

1. Try to avoid tris (triangular faces) if at all possible
2. Turn on smoothshading
3. Don't UV if you aren't sure about the texture, sometimes models look better before texturing at all. These textures are also very procedural-looking, try to turn the cloud-size down.
4. Use more polygons! Your limit should be around 1000, but really well-optimized models can go down to around 500.

If you need some examples, unzip the Nexuiz pk3, download PakRat (an old Quake model viewer), and use it to export some of the weapons to .obj. It's a lot of steps, but it will give you a good idea of how Nexuiz models are actually constructed. I think there was a direct .zym importer floating around for a while, too.

Don't be discouraged, you will get better if you keep working. Here's my first weapon models and the thread I commandeered to post it :)

Well, I've been modeling for about three to four years, but my models were for a game that had a very low polygon count, so the models are somewhat low quality. At any rate, the UV's are pretty much disposable, so you guys could work with it how you want. I just need a good place to drop this .zip file to get it out to you guys.
