Is it possible to play nexuiz in a windowed screen instead of full screen

Yes, type vid_fullscreen 0 in the console and press enter.
Restart the game afterwards, and you will be in window mode.

Or just uncheck "fullscreen" in the settings...

You should also note that you can set custom sizes in the console.
