Okay, so the other big tournament-style FPSes have backstories, right? The ones in the games themselves may be pretty sparse, but they're still set in a universe with recognizable characters and places in which they're based upon. It may seem minor, but I think that maybe establishing a nice backstory for the Nex universe and characters would help make it feel more. . . well, established, instead of just kinda having everything there. The characters, in particular, seem to suffer from a lack of background; choosing them is more based on whether or not they look cool, so you end up with a lot of the robots being played

My idea is to do this in an 'open' style, using the Nex wiki. Penny-Arcade was able to fabricate an entire universe based around one silly concept when a wiki was set up (some of you may be familiar with this), so it may work here, too.
I have a lot of ideas regarding the story, such as why they are fighting, who is fighting, how they relate to each other (my idea has the characters being divided primarily into three factions, all competing for the same prize).
I may be thinking waaay too hard about this, but I like a good story in a game, and I totally want to jump on the opportunity to help develop one
