Ok, then YOU get the .blend (here) :D
Also made the arms a bit thicker.
And I play normally Minsta. So it doesn't bother me really that it would killed with one shot:P
And no. I won't dissappear. I'm already to addicted. :|

@Franco: Really really nice work. I played that map in Q3 and I must admit that it rocks.
Thanks for bringing it to Nexuiz :)

did a little modifying to the skadi model, so far I've done this.

ill go back and de-red the pants some and probably call it good. didn't want to overhaul her, but i did want to add a bit more "spooky sexiness" to her

it's nice to see that player models are finally getting edited by the community. They really need an update IMHO.

The muzzle looks far better than my attemp to make that Fireball-gun (Here).
Only the part above the holder looks a bit strange.... Somehow organic.
I will continue mine though. Perhaps it's good for another weapon..

Yeh, that part needs work.
I think I'll just do it again, mebbe just with some simple geometry, i was trying to make some air intakes like a fighter jet, but it hasn't really worked out so far.
..
Haha on me... i just looked at most of the Nexuiz models, some won't load into blender, even if i use the .zym importer, but some will.
..
And what i found was this: it's not neccesary to make your weapon one continuous mesh. They are made out of many intersecting pieces.
Which totally makes sense from a texturing point of view, because the weapon i made is one continuous mesh so i now have to mark all the seams in order to map the texture properly.. hmffph.
..
Also making the mesh continuous means a lot of extra polygons.
Also making one continous mesh take a lot longer and is totally unnecessary >.<
And one last thing, do everything in triangles, not quads.
Ah well, im learning.

You don't want to do that. All of those extra surfaces facing the camera have to be drawn by the GPU, regardless of whether they are covered by other pieces of geometry (only backface culling can really save faces from having to be being filled). It can make things worse the more weapons there are closer to the camera. The poly count is less of an issue, especially if you make levels of detail of the model.

So this isn't an aspect of the current weapon models you want to copy.

OK , i kept the mesh manifold and played with seams.. for a long time :?

This is only a preliminary texturing. Just playing with ideas atm, it's my first weapon (kinda) so im in no hurry.

@Rad Ished: Nice, maybe have the pipes be red/firey and make the rest of the body dark? (Texture, that is)
Do it yourself, or stop complaining.
