Keep in mind the issue of performance [graphical, network, & enjoyment] at all times.

Use a current svn build, it is in the menu :P
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

No, its just a test. im not making an acctual map outa this ugly terrain.

An lets not forget aboute the oppressed sea lions! As for preformance, the mesh is rougthly 10240x10240x3000qu and badly optimized. Thers no visblockers or planning beind it. and it still renders at 200-270fps with normal.cfg on my 6600gt so i would not worrie to muthch abt it. Networking we will just ahve to see.. vis will never be very effective on very open maps, nomatter how mutch voodo you practice.

You will likely want so skip "q3map_tcGen ivector" since model apps alow you good control over UVs. The -1 is from hitting a wall at high speeds, feel like somekinda racing game hopping arround this one.

The screenshot should have been taken with r_speeds + r_showtris + r_lockpvs; only then could I assess performance.

Terrain graphical and network performance can be improved with the usage of fog-culling, higher vis resolution, or appropriate hinting [or auto-hinting with Gensurf]. You'll have to consider the shear number people who play Nexuiz on laptop.

Enjoyment could be expanded upon another vector via the usage of interiors made from with structural brushes, to increase both framerate and prevent wall-hacks.

In the event that you were to neglect performance, I bring you Exhibit 'A', 'Blasted Lands'.

I don't see your problem, the test ONS map maorphed made was running ok on my poor old pc (gef3 ti). And 60 FPS isn't bad. And there's no bloom or anything fancy yet on this map.
