Adding an icon in Gnome

Postby madmonk80 » Tue Mar 07, 2006 12:16 pm

I don't know if it's the right section...sorry...

I'd like to create an icon to launch Nexuiz un my linuxbox, but I have 2 problems:

1) Where can I take the icon???

2) I have to add the parameter -sndstereo to make the sound work..but if I put it in the command of the icon it seems it's not considered when I launch the game...how can I do?

Thanx!

innovati submitted an icon to kdelook.org some time ago: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=27957
I also found an icon on my harddisk, which someone posted at the old forums iirc: http://mensa.ath.cx/~siegl/tmp/nexuiz.png
I don't remember who made it, but i hope it's ok with the artist if i post a link...

Hm, strange it should work...
If it doesn't work, open Nexuiz/nexuiz-linux.sh with a text editor and replace
Code: Select all
./nexuiz-linux-686-sdl "${@}"

with
Code: Select all
./nexuiz-linux-686-sdl -sndstereo "${@}"

Thanks for the icons!!

But the -sndstereo doesn't work...even if I edit it in the .sh file...now starting from terminal I don't have to digit it but the shortcut doesn't reconize it even edited in the file!!!

Strange...really...

Any other suggest?

 Are you shure you linked that shortcut to the right file?
I see no way how this could still go wrong if you changed that shell script...

Maybe the parameter is sent, but has no effect? :)

Well, it seem to work on the console so, that doesn't really make sense...

BAM! way to be KadaverJack - that is the official icon yes - there is no better version of it.

Someday either I or somebody specialler than me will make an SVG for all your GNOME people who are into the whole resolution-independat icons :D (Linux is truly so far more advanced than windows who only got alpha in icons in 2001) w00t!

My work here is done thanks to KadaverJack.

BTW, to run Nexuiz I also had to make a script to CD into the correct dir before executing the engine (else it wouldn't load the game media)- I simply made a shortcut in KDE and it worked fine. Good work all of y'all.

Such a script is included in 1.5. An further improved version will be in 1.5.1
