I take it, because of my pro-men's liberty views, you will not be running my maps on your server anylonger?


Let's get one thing clear. You are not pro-men at all. You are anti-women. Hurting women does not help men at all. You can call it what you will, but such a stance is hurtful toward women. Since I respect women, and I believe your stance is hurtful toward women, I don't like your stance. Just because there are jackass women in the world does not mean that all women should suffer for that.

Why not deal with behavior on an individual level? Why have such an "anti" stance on a large, generic scale? It doesn't make sense.

Anyway, I might not be running your map on my server because it has too many hiding places and you're not willing to change that. That is the only reason though, and I haven't made up my mind yet. I'm still wanting to try it out further and get more feedback from other players.

I mean...the Nazi's engineered the volkswagen beetle. I think that was an excellent car, even though I think Nazi's are jackasses. So if you made a great map, I'd probably still use it on the server. I just wish you wouldn't think and say such hurtful things.

Can we please stop it? We like your maps up to some point (remember many people did complain but gave you tips on how to make them better) but you shoulld have learned by now were this 'some point' ends. To make it clear again, your blueamuse map has some technical flaws. DivVerent tried to tell you and even i though i'm no mapper did find them with a simple textedior inside the .map file just by searching for the things he mentioned and getting a quick picture of how those items in question should look like. (worldspawns and func_rotate if you really need to be told what to search for).
Other tips did mention things regarding the map itself. It has LOTS of good idea but it has TOO lots of them. The map is too huge for normal number of players. You HAVE quite some talent as mapper but you put too much into one map. Try to split it into 2 or 3 maps. Also the map is too dark for most people and one can easily get lost because the bases and surrounding areas are not colored. Also i myself think some of the ceilings are too low and make one feel bad. Especially around the red base. Further most of the pipes are too small to allow fluid gameplay. Its too hard to enter those pipes. The only place were it might be good is the red base but even there it felt a bit wrong to me. It prevents defenders from following the flag carrier when having to hit the pipe at just the right angle and the need to jump.

I have not yet looked at the new version of THIS map but at least the old one had very serious FPS problems. Maybe those got fixed, i have no idea. Sorry for being mostly offtopic with this post.

Now to make it perfectly clear: Any further post in this thread that is not about the map itself but some peoples ideas about how other people should be treated WILL BE DELETED BY ME as soon as i notice it! Right now i do not mind who started it so this goes to EVERYONE: IT DOES END HERE! If things get bad i'll close or this thread.
(tChr: any comment about love of power will also be deleted at once and will get me VERY ANGRY this time so just cut it!)


To make more things clear: This is an forum about a certain game, talk about the game and things regarding the game. If there is need to talk about other things then that game use the general forum BUT RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE in doing so. Talking openly about pro-ANYONES or anti-ANYONES rights is NOT RESPECT.

I guess the matters that were brought up in this thread (and olders) will not help getting you and your maps popular but people like good maps and like to be helpful that why so many gave tips and told you some things to improve. I guess you are aware there are many people do not like those matters and that its a very bad idea to keep bringing them up as it will indeed put you into the situation that people will NOT use your maps because of this. I really think you are intelligent enough to see this.. i also think you like people playing your map and treating you with respect. Do not put the remaining respect at risk!

I found some

and deleted them (blue amuse map), now I'm compiling the map to see if there are still errors.
I also saw a

func_rotating {
speed 1000
}
And I remeber deleting this in the map.
Why didn't radiant remove the entity? And... how might I find more that have speed but no brushes assigned.

BTW: for this DasTower map do you get slowdowns? I have a fairly bad gfx card so when I look at the tower I get a slow down. Also when looking at the spaceship wreckage. I'm thinking of making the wreckage structual so vis will be calculated for it... is this wise?

A totally divVerent question - what does the name of the map mean?
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

You think my maps are better the I think they are. (Seriously, you were saying that blueamuse was good looking and detailed... I don't think it's up to snuff yet though on the detail and need to know what to add)


I do think you're a good map designer. That doesn't mean that blueamuse is perfect, but it does have some really interesting design features. It's visually creative. I think you just went overboard with one map to the point where it doesn't work well enough for its intended purpose.

You could fix the errors in the map file, colorize the bases appropriately, remove almost all of the pitch black secret areas, remove about 1/4 of the visible areas, and add a few more armor and weapon spawns...and the map would be nice! I think the bases are pretty close to being equal. The blue base might be more vulnerable because of that lower entrance. I have to test it some more when there are more participants.

But that's only one woman's opinion

Dokujisan: I just made a shader for the blue goop and lowered the damage to 75, this should take care of the 'it looks like a floor and kills me instanly' complaint.

I'll also run the make-the-map-brighter script on it again.

As for the dark areas: I made them so you couldn't get from the blue to the red base through them (now once the engine supports the dmg field on func_rotating that will be complete (you'll have to be careful around the big fan)). I'll have to work more on these areas, they're very new, I made them so you can camp... I like camping :). (Also it reqards you for knowing the map, you have another path that you can take :) ) Blue does seem slightly easier to grab the flag. I might have to add a machine gun nest pointing at the sewer enterance (your thoughts on that?)). One thing I notice is that on the server no one defends their base... :(. I also think maybe I'll make the blue base girders abit safer, what do you think, is it good that they are dangerous?

What do you think of the DasTower map btw? My friends and I reallly had a great time playing that in DM mode. Don't know how it will fare in CTF though. Hopefully well. (also what should I beautify on that man, how?).

I'll have to see it to know exactly what you mean, but that sounds like it could help balance things out. One of the best defensive aspects of the blue base is the dangerous water, but that also happens to affect the defenders as well.

I also think maybe I'll make the blue base girders abit safer, what do you think, is it good that they are dangerous?

it's so easy to fall into the blue water even if the walking areas were completely solid. Just getting to the flag from the upper area often results in dying because the blue goop is not forgiving. So, perhaps that change might help.

I'll bet that is because everyone is currently exploring the map. Nobody wants to sit in the relatively boring base while there is this huge interesting map to explore.

What do you think of the DasTower map btw?

I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I will try it out later tonight. I'm at work right now, and I have a party to attend after work. It will be around midnight my time (in 5 hours). I'll give you feedback on the CTF.

Well, I am German, and that's why I asked - the correct "translation" of "The Tower" would be "Der Turm". I would not have asked if it were "Der Tower" (actually we do say that when referring to the "tower" of a airport), but "Das Tower" just looks wrong... :P
