Toolbars get installed by applications such as winamp or DivX, basically freeware .. err, I mean "adware"
If you read all steps of the installation procedure of such programs, you can uncheck the installation of the toolbars that come with it, usually. But that would require that one does read it. I do, kojak('s dad) apparently doesn't (or wants these toolbars).
