Plus Soylent is miles away from the annoying space maps that have so tiny platforms there is not even room for a left and right lane. You won't get far with laser only here :P

Ok everyone, i've cleared the original votes in favor of allowing people to vote for multiple maps at once! Two of the rules still stand:

#1: If you're going to vote, at least try some of the maps available and pick them based on your overall opinion of the maps... Don't just pick one and say you're done.
#2: Mappers cannot vote for their own map. Although I cannot really know who votes what, please be honest and do the right thing.

So vote vote VOTE!
Do it yourself, or stop complaining.

Tried them all and I say Soylent CTF is the best map on here followed by Corsair.

Mental Space is one of those maps that has me either spectating or screaming at the computer lol.

I don't think Corsair plays all that well and it desperately needs more internal lighting.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

today we tried hot grounds on dcc plain delight. It was really top fun : ) only trouble is that for ffa dm, most ppl just prefer to stay in the middle (safe, mh) area and shotgun themselves to oblivion : ) . It definitely get my vote though. Also i really love corsair, amazing visuals (tricked the it support to get me a gtx260 yeAY : ) , but something is missing gameplay wise. dont really know what. i still have fun at it though : ) .smelter is also nice, but i prefer positronic : ( more fun ^^

Heh. Sorry.

Well I agreed because I thought this contest wasn't that serious. Now it's up there, the map is getting criticized as if I had actually intentionally designed it to suck. I don't even think people realize it's my FIRST fully released map, forchrissakes.

It's not that bad in the forums though, admittedly. It's more evident in the servers. Some guys do appreciate it and point out the failings constructively and how to fix them. But some just stomp off saying 'this map sucks' yadda yadda as if it's my fault it got voted into play (I never vote for it), and knowing that I'm there playing too. Makes you wonder for whom you really are making it for anyway if the people getting it are like this. I've asked it to be removed in doku's server for the meantime just so I don't end up totally becoming disinterested in mapping for nexuiz.

Because frankly it's extremely demoralizing for a new mapper to get that kind of responses from something you actually put thought and creativity in.

I tend to try and say what I think needs fixed. As I said, internal lighting and what not :P

Don't let that discourage you the map is very imaginative and well made. I just don't personally enjoy playing on it all that much.

I'd say any harsh criticisms are because it DOES look so cool for a first map. Everyone loves and hates different maps. I hate most maps that are in a space style where they are wide open and people just laser you into the void. Or camp. Anyway I forgot where I was going with this... eh... don't give up!

Yeah. I can relate. But with everything you create, music, graphics, etc., there will _always_ be some people that don't like it. I wouldn't listen too much about what people say. Tastes differ too much. Take the constructive criticism and simply ignore all the people that say "it sucks". I create maps from time to time, because i enjoy doing so. Sure, it would be awesome if gamer girls would throw their underwear at me and shout "please do me, your maps are so great". Sadly it ain't so :D Basically motivation is ideally partly intrinsic and partly external. IMHO the intrinsic part is the more important one..
