Alright everyone, the 2009 "End Of The Year Mapping Challenge" is complete. I'm sure you can all see the results, but here it is in a nutshell:

FruitieX takes first with 24 votes (Leading map: Castles)
Cortez in second with 8 votes (Leading map: Skycastle)
Rad_Ished and MaKR tie for third with 6 votes (Leading maps: Potala and SoylentCTF respectively)

This years winning map is Castles with a total of 11 votes.

Thanks for the work guys, and good job. You win absolutely nothing, but lets just say a good amount of these maps are wanted in Nexuiz... I would vantage to say that at least 5 of these will be in by 2.5.5.

... And if you didn't win this year... who knows, there might just be another one for 2010........ You'll have to wait and see.. :D (By that I mean, there will be one.)
Do it yourself, or stop complaining.

i guess the only reason why got the 2nd places you count each maps per author together. btw you can remove skycastles i dont think its a good map for nexuiz(as good as basementctf, so not worth to play)

Samual wrote:Rad_Ished and MaKR tie for third with 6 votes (Leading maps: Potala and SoylentCTF respectively)

potala is just weird and soylentctf is a bad conversion of the dm map

Samual wrote:This years winning map is Castles with a total of 11 votes.

I still cant understand why. Whats so cool about this boring layout?

or lets say it in other words the maps you want in nexuiz

#1: Uhh, you would have done EVEN WORSE if I didn't count them together. Also: Skycastles is a very good map, why else would the ladder use it?... (And yes, I and several friends like it too)
#2: ... I don't particularly love Potala, but it's art -- not weird. SoylentCTF is a very good map too, it just needs some fixes and it'll be done.
#3: It's not boring considering how often dmcastle is played, apparently people like dmcastle and this is a very good remake.
#4: No, I don't want BloodrageV2 but others do... It will probably go in if morfar approves it.
#5: And I will reject it every time, as it's a horrible map in quite a few fields. What I would recommend is -- Well, you don't care what I would say anyway.

weird i never saw it on the ladder, only greatwall reloaded, runningmanctf, bloodprisonctf and facingworls are on the ladder

Samual wrote:#2: ... I don't particularly love Potala, but it's art -- not weird. SoylentCTF is a very good map too, it just needs some fixes and it'll be done.

potala is just a abstrac map, so you are right it can be called art. if you mean soylent ctf needs to be rebuild as on piece and not as a simple mirrored version , the i'll agree with you

Samual wrote:#3: It's not boring considering how often dmcastle is played, apparently people like dmcastle and this is a very good remake.

am i already that drunken? its a simple semi-open map, where you easily can capture and it easily turns in to dm with more then 4 players per team

Samual wrote:#4: No, I don't want BloodrageV2 but others do... It will probably go in if morfar approves it.

you said skycastle got a good gameplay and then you dont see that map accutally got a better gameplay then skycastle. or is it just that skycastle is a ctf map and bloodrage 'just another stupid' dm map

Samual wrote:#5: And I will reject it every time, as it's a horrible map in quite a few fields.

acctually it got more gameplay then the q3dm17 remake or the mentalspace remake or castle or skycastle

Just as I expected. Soylent CTF is REALLY bad because you can go to the roof. I've played it now and people ALWAYS go to the roof with the flag. This is so bad it's laughable. I knew it would end up like this...
Please change it so you can't do that! It breaks the map totally and makes it really boring to play.

Clearly you didn't play the new version of the map :P (The one submitted here) -- If you played on e.g. HOCTF, they still have the outdated version which doesn't have a separate roof.. It also doesn't have some other changes. Actually, the map submitted here is also outdated iirc.. He should be on revision 8.

I hereby dutifully submit DarkCorridors to whatever contests of whatever kind happen to be running or not running at this time regardless of their requirements.
