Braindead CTF Mapping Challenge

Postby lda17h » Tue Dec 29, 2009 1:44 pm

Hi,

like i promised in another thread here's the BCMC, the Braindead CTF Mapping Challenge. Maps can be submitted if they meet the following criteria:

* Must be braindead simple (think Mentalspace, Squarespace. The complexity of SoylentCTF and Hydronex are the upper limit. Actually SoylentCTF is already too complex imho ;)
* Must look decent (This is the point where Mentalspace or greatwall reloaded would be disqualified). Good lighting, nice textures, a surprising visual appearance (think cel hell), etc..
* Can be a remake of an existing map to make it more braindead or improve its looks..
* Must allow high FPS (compare your map with e.g. Hydronex for a reference FPS)
* Must allow using movement skills for fast paced action

None of these rules are really carved in stone. If the map is fun and looks good, submit it :D

Map submissions period starts now , for as long as "now" is before the ending date and ends on February the 1st, 2009 at 0:00am.

Voting starts on February the 1st at 0:00am. And ends on March the 1st, 0:00am.

There is no prizes involved. BUT: If your map meets the above criteria, then there's no way it won't find its way to a public CTF server. As FFA players seem to prefer these maps :D

Positronic (v1r3) by sep:

Those two usually don't go hand in hand.. ;) Interesting challenge tough; if i can mobilize the energy i may just whip something up.
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

Ya know, actually this "braindead" stuff is that makes me puke nowadays...
No offense, but public has enough braindead maps, I think it would be time to make _REAL_ maps.

Yeah, i know that you are kind of allergic to simpleton maps.. I must admit i have mucho fun on these maps. They kinda allow to use the laser to its fullest potential.. These maps are more about raw power rather than sophisticated tactics..

Not true. I like simple maps too, they can be very fun. But not space floater after space floater, or wide, open maps after eachother.

I submit Positronic v1r3. It looks fairly nice, you can laser pad and it has its catches such as the crusher. Also it has frickin' lasers.
