- accurate dates (when will it start ? how long do two people have time to play a match in the final rounds ? Preround is supposed to be only one weekend iirc)

The date(s) aren't fixed or known yet, it also depends on whether the registration must be extended due to little registrations
- what are these "fixed" server settings ?

They are going to take the 1on1 ladder server config :)
- is there a least a list of the mappool of which PC-Max will randomly chose maps ?

The maps aren't selected yet
- what is the winning condition of a match ?

Hmm, no clear response of that, at least I couldn't understand it ;(
- is the participation of this tournament restricted to people living in germany ? or may Kojak also win something ?

All players are allowed to participate, however there "might" be problems with the coupon-price, as the online shop for which these coupons are valid ships from germany

On this page (scroll to the bottom!) you can see the countries where they are shipping the stuff, all other countries will not be able to receive anything from that shop!

Nah i do not think thats a good idea. Even when more then 64 players sign up i'd rather fall out then create some tensions by someone being prefered.
And after all 64 is quite a huge number for a indepentend game.. (standing eye-to-eye with reality) Though i'd like to get proven wrong :P

Wow, very cool!

But, dont know, maybe, someones scan win easyer then others. Nexuiz is an open source project, isnt it? And what about modifycing ur game settings, like: power up the nex gun or make a little splash damage for the nex? For example, there are MANY possibilities, and in the rules doesnt stand, that you have to make a demo file and upload it, and what about wallhacks (isnt a problem for those, who have the source files and are able to edit them)?

2.1 contains a dozen of anti-cheat protections, didn't you know that ? nah, just kidding. People won't have to upload demos, although I'd suggest to PC-Max that the players should do them and keep them in case of problems, as it is done in the ladder. Cheating cannot be prevented, it can jsut be detected

You can't powerup your machine gun or anything as those things are in total control of the server. One would need to hack and manipulate the server in order to gain some advantage..
You are however right that it might be possible to create a aim or wallhack cheat. For that reason one has to be able to show screenshots (and on demand a demo) in the 1on1 ladder and i think it might be a good idea to also make this rule in that contest. Its not the best solution but even in games with so called 'anti-cheat-tools' there is cheating. The biggest archivment of those tools is to make people feel better and mostly it does that too good as people feel 'oh i'm save there is some anticheat'. Sure those tools make it harder but not impossible. I'd rather trust people and watch a demo when in doubt then getting too confident in tools :)
Also those tools increase the network traffic, raise cpu usage, might produce false positives (i got kicked a few times while trying quake4 and i'm for sure not cheating :) ) and those tools are often unpractical for opensource games as people will compile engines them self now and then for what ever reason and might get refused by a server then..

Are you REALLY sure about that? I saw one guy with a splash-nex-gun and he said, he changed some settings etc. and if you would save the server, there are enought possibilaties to get those files... I dont want to say, that Im a hacker, but I know a few possibillities to get the servers master password, excpeccaly at game servers... just using the Terminal (mac) or DOS (win32), so ;) ... but that dont mean that Im cheating in any game!!! and in warss, too!!!

Yeah, thats right ;)

If you have that connections, say the PC-Max team, that they add a rule to the rules: making a demo and uploading it to the server or to any server, bzw. demo is needed ;)

Bad choice of prize perhaps? I think it's quite obvious that an nVIDIA card is the best option for Nexuiz as it's OpenGL. For Linux users it's more obvious as ATi's drivers are still hopeless.

Well, the sponsor donating those ATI cards (PowerColor) only seems to have ATI cards.

The X1600 should perform decently with Nexuiz - and if you happen to be a Linux user you can still opt for ebay and get a Nvidia card instead ;)
