I'm squeezing Simon to gather more and more information ;)

The mappool consists of 6 maps. 3 maps for the four prerounds (where player count gets reduced from 64 to 4 players by usual K.O.) and 3 maps for the final rounds. So far Simon chose 5 of these 6 maps and is still occupied chosing the 6th map. The mappool he gave to me was:
Soylent Space
Toxic
Basement
Evil Space
Running Man

Like all of you, I am not fine with that mappool. I just sent him a PM, asking him to substitute Evilspace and Basement (the other maps are fine, imo) with other maps (such as Bloodprison and Warfare). I'm also trying to figure out which three maps are gonna be played in the prerounds.

ok, I talked to Simon and I got quite a lot of information:

First of all, both the prerounds and the finalrounds are played with TWO maps, no "best of three" or so.

The Mappool:
Runningman (Preround-Map 1)
Bloddprison (map without Nexgun, Preround-Map 2)
Toxic (Final map 1)
Soylent (Final map 2)

As 54 People signed up there will be 27 matches at the beginning, resulting in 27 winners. However, to continue we need a even number (28 players), this is why a "lucky loser" of that round is allowed to continue although he lost. Then, with these 28 players, 14 matches are played, having 14 winners, these 14 winners play again, having 7 winners. Again a loser of the previous round is allowed to participate, and then there are 8 players playing 4 matches which result in 4 winners, the final round-candidates

I agree that this method of organising the matches is the best, better than playing a 64 players tournament with 54 players, which would mean that only 22 matches are really played (with 2 players per match) and 10 matches are default wins.

So, here comes the resulting timetable (German Time, Month=Nov 2006):
Saturday, 11th: 11am - 3:30pm Preround 1
Saturday, 11th: 3:30pm - 5:50pm Preround 2
Sunday, 12th: 11am - 12:10am Preround 3
Sunday, 12th: 12:10am - 3pm Preround 4
Sunday, 12th: 3pm - 5 pm Final rounds
Sunday, 12th: evening: publishing the rankings and nominating the winner

At Final Rounds, every of the 4 players plays against the other three ones.

Demos are forced for the final rounds, but not for the prerounds.

The tourney tree isn't created yet, they have to decide whether they gonna compute it by a script or do it manually.

and btw: tChr, are you going to broadcast some of the matches ? Or is someone else going to do it ?

As already posted in the german speaking PC-Max forum i would like to thank anyone organizing this tournament, all the people that did help with servers, advice, patients, live comments and ofcourse all the players that had the guts to show up. And i would also like ot gratulate the winners.
Despite the chaos caused by a few people that did not show up it was a very very fun weekend and i hope everyone enjoyed as much as i did!
Thanks everyone!

Our first sponsored Nexuiz tournament if over and i hope it was not the last of it..

It was a very fun weekend indeed. I hope there will be more tournaments in the future. And I hope more players will actually play their matches. And that the tournament is more adjusted for international players :P
