WTF PangoFont?!

Postby C.Brutail » Fri Apr 10, 2009 2:36 pm

Code: Select all
akion@lair:~/Gamez/Nexuiz_edit_SVN/NetRadiant/netradiant/install$ ./radiant.x86

(radiant.x86:4711): GdkGLExt-WARNING **: cannot load PangoFont

Also, Radiant console is flooded with this:

Code: Select all
Gtk-WARNING **: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated

So why is this all so important? Because I can't see any text in the editor area. Working without size info and axis names suxx big time. :(
This is not the first case of this stuff, and teh googles tell me nothing.
I've compiled revision 313 from SVN.

I have:
libpango1.0-0
libpango1.0-common
libpango1.0-dev
libpango1.0-0-dbg

installed. What on the bloody earth is gong on?

Your pango is too old. 1.0 was released 7 years ago.

That can't be the reason, as I have debian testing on the other pc too, where I don't get this error.

I have the same problem on both of my debian unstable machines, one is 32-bit and the other is 64-bit.

Could you post what pango*.pc files are in pkgconfig? Maybe Debian missed some.

I have a similar problem.
I'm currently working/playing/experimenting with the latest code for ZeroRadiant.
I was trying to fix a bug that prevented freelook to work properly when Radiant is running on my second monitor.
It can be fixed by installing the latest Gtk package. (The bug is caused in the gtk package and not in radiant itself)
Unfortunately this package also includes a new version of Pango that seems to be incompatible with GtkGLExt. And now I'm getting the same error you describe: "cannot load PangoFont"
There seems to be no fix for it. The latest version of GtkGLExt is over 3 years old...

So right now you can only get an older version of GTK, that uses an older version of Pango which is compatible with GtkGLExt.

The problem with the fonts disappearing seems to have returned as of lately (with debian unstable)
