Blender and netradiant exchange

Postby Im Namen der Tunichtguten » Thu Jun 18, 2009 7:22 pm

AloAh everyone,

i want to exchange 3D Objects from blender to netradiant. But if i export obj or md2 files, netradiant isnt able to import these files over [right mouse click] -> misc -> misc_model.

Maybe i use the wrong settings for obj files?

To include a model in your map, right click the grid and choose misc > misc_model or misc > misc_gamemodel. I forget the difference offhand.

It should be md3, md2, mdl, ase, or obj

Ya that is what i tryed! Blender only allows to export obj,map or md2 files. All other fileformats dont work, only the map format. But you see in my second forum post here what happend, when i importet a map file.

In your obj export settings, you should select "Material Groups", and probably "Triangulate", if your model doesn't already exist of only triangles.
You also can deselect "Rotate X90", when your model has the right orientation in Blender.

BTW, this dog model seems to be EXTREMELY high poly (obj file > 1MB?), so be careful with its (over)usage in a map.

Okay I tryed these settings and i gave the dog lower polygons. The same problem happens, when i load it as .map file. And its not possible to import the obj file. Here are my settings i used for the obj file in Blender->

and that is what happens, when i importet it into netradiant ->

Okay now i got it! BIG THX 2 cortez666! My Hero of the day <3 xD

You have to put all obj files to Nexuiz/data/models/ and than import them over netradiant.
[right mouse click] -> misc -> misc_model.
