newbie question

Postby VolumetricSteve » Tue Aug 18, 2009 12:15 am

I'd think this information would be plastered in every sticky and readme type file....but I haven't been able to find it.

NetRadiant DOES make maps for quake 3....right? I can't imagine it wouldn't, considering it apparently works for other quake 3 based games, but the only options I have to work with are:

Quake2World
Nexuiz
DarkPlaces
Warsow

I don't even KNOW what the last one is.....nor did I even know there was such a thing as Quake2World......regardless, why isn't "Quake 3 Arena" in that list? Just to keep me on my toes? Confuse people? Make things sneaky?

What should I do to configure it for Quake 3 Map editing?

thanks

net radiant was made for nexuiz/dp based on the code from gtk radiant. you can download packs for it in the svn trunk and find where to get the q3:a pack there.

Heh, alright....so where is any of that?

I found the svn.icculus.org/netradiant/trunk page, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense......am I going to have to compile a module to make netradiant make levels for quake 3?

is there anywhere I should go....specifically just for quake 3 things? maybe a precompiled module? thanks for your help

they were under games, but it appears empty, however if you build via svn the packs are there. div will be able to help more with netradiant.

NetRadiant is made upon the 1.5 brash of GtkRadiant to keep it alive and supported for the new platforms. The focus is also put on improving q3map2, the map compiler...

The site explain clearly the problem with the gamepack :
Games supported by included game packs:

* DarkPlaces
* Nexuiz
* Quake2World
* Warsow

For licensing reasons, no other game packs are included yet. Other games can very well be added into the default distribution, if their license is GPL compatible.
(...)
Also, a GPL compatible Q3A pack would be highly appreciated.

The game packs from GtkRadiant 1.5 are 100 % compatible, so you copy the one for Quake 3 to your NetRadiant installation.
